Day 1 of Tiki Month is officially in the books... and what a fun start it was. 🌴🍹

Big shoutout to our friends from Fox Holler Coffee, who rolled up right at 3PM as our very first guests of the day. Not only did they show up, but they showed UP. Hula skirts, tropical vibes, and fully committed to the theme. 😎

Seeing people embrace the fun is exactly why we love creating these little experiences at Wheat Penny. We spend months dreaming these menus up, and watching everyone enjoy them on opening day makes it all worth it.

Tiki Bar is here all month long, and if Day 1 was any indication, we're in for a pretty fun June!

We'll see you the rest of this week and all weekend long for tropical cocktails and a little island escape right here in downtown Effingham. 🌺

IT'S HERE! WP TIKI BAR OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES TODAY. 🌴

What exactly is a tiki bar?

At its core, tiki is all about escape.

Born in the 1930s, tiki bars transported guests somewhere tropical through cool decor, creative presentation, and some of the most flavor-packed cocktails ever created.

For the last few months, we've been working on our own take…

Expect tropical cocktails, themed glassware, shareable punch bowls, island-inspired flavors, and a menu designed to make you forget you're in the Midwest for a few hours.

This is one of the most fun menus we've ever created, and we can't wait for you to experience it!

Tiki Month begins TODAY and runs all throughout June.

🌴 SURPRISE! TIKI MONTH IS HERE + WE’RE GIVING AWAY A $50 GIFT CARD 🌴

Over the last few months, we’ve been dreaming up one of the most fun menus we’ve ever created. Tropical cocktails, over-the-top glassware, shareable punch bowls, and plenty of reasons to grab your favorite people and stay awhile.

Every drink is served in its own themed glass. And yes… we even created giant group bowls meant to be shared. 🤪

This is the last weekend for our spring cocktail menu! 🌸

Two of your favorites, the Banana Bliss and Slice of Life have absolutely crushed it this season. We’ve loved seeing so many of these drinks leave the bar and land on your tables.

Next week, a brand new cocktail menu arrives, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on behind the scenes….

What started as an idea to bring people together downtown continues to grow bigger every single year…and this year, we’re bringing even more with it.

More food. More activities for the kids. More ways for local businesses & sponsors to be involved.

And yes… the Ham City 5K is coming back too 🏃‍♂️🔥

We’re very excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to spend another fall day filling the streets of downtown with live music, laughter, community, and thousands of people.

Food for thought on this Friday…👇

At Wheat Penny, the goal was never just cocktails. It was connection.

As the world becomes more digital and distracted, we continue to see something special happen here. A place to slow down. To talk. To laugh. To celebrate. To feel seen.

That’s part of why we never put TVs throughout the bar. Not because we don’t love sports or entertainment, but because we wanted to create a space where conversation stayed at the center of the experience.

A space where a drink can turn into a three hour conversation.

Where strangers become regulars.

Where people actually look up from their phones.

And honestly, we’re really honored to be that space for so many of you.

Last night, the team gathered to celebrate something we believe matters just as much as the work itself… the people behind it all. 🥃

Every few months, we try to gather to celebrate the wins together. Graduations. Engagements. Weddings. Birthdays. New chapters.

But the one that hit home the hardest last night…

Gavin.

If you’ve spent time at WP over the last couple years, chances are Gavin has made you a cocktail, had a conversation with you across the bar, or taken care of you in a way.

He’s been with us since the very beginning. One of those people who helped shape what Wheat Penny became from day one.

And while we’re very sad to see him go… it’s for all the right reasons.

Over the last six months, Gavin and his fiancée Grace have been converting a van to chase a new adventure: life on the road together while working remotely and traveling the country.

We’re proud of you, Gav.
