The former members of the Iowa-Colorado Club met for lunch a few days ago. Only 2 were unable to attend due to illness. In attendance from your left to right are: Vivene Mayes and Seidah Green, next photo visiter Dontae(sp?)Smith sitting next to father: Daniel Smith and Marsha Madison, top row: Marsha Madison and Rose Burrell, bottom row: Seidah Green, Vivene Mayes, Georgia Grant and Nanci Vaugh then former President of Denver club; Michael Burrell with Seidah Green and finally; Rose Burrell, Michael Burrell and Vivene Mayes. We all had a "Wonderfull Time".

I've communicated with my friends on my personal page that said I'm discontinuing my personal page, but I intend on continuing the Iowa Colorado page. The message that I send was as follows:
"I'm going to discontinue Facebook and my political emails. They take up too much time. Any one who knows me can email, text or call me if they want to contact me. I can get me political news from TV or read about it from different sources."

Today is my wife Mary's Heavenly Birthday. Viewing the pix will prove that we were together for more than 50 years.

Michael R Burrell's journey lead him to Alaska by way of the Celebrity Solstice Cruise Ship. Alaska is a very beautiful state.

He was able to mark off one of his bucket list items when he finally rode in a helicopter. Then was able to ride in a dog sled atop an Alaskan glacier.

Mike's neighbor's father Luiz traveled with him.

Our crew member in the dining room who served us our wine each night at Dinner is from Ukraine. Her brothers are fighting the Russians. She told me that so far all of her family members are ok.

After hearing her story it reinforced the reality of how blessed not only I am but also many of us who live in the United States of America.

Although I haven't posted much on the Iowa Colorado Club page lately, this is very personal to me. I was very blessed to have a love that lasted almost 30 years.

Caldwell-Kirk Funeral Home was purchased by the Archdiocese of Denver in 2019. Caldwell-Kirk is now known as the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary at Caldwell-Kirk. Founded in faith, and living our core purpose of “filling the void of loss with faith,” we serve all people and all faith traditions.

Former Des Moines, Iowa resident Danny Smith was honored at the Denver Nuggets professional basketball game prior to the Corona Virus outbreak in Denver and the cancellation of the NBA season.

The Iowa Colorado Club sends it's deepest condolences to the family of our dear brother Gene Jackson. Gene, a former member of the ICC, was a man's man with a vibrant spirit. He was a very proud man with a mission to especially assist and improve the lives of African Americans whether young or old.

Gene was also an accomplished drummer, having been inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame.

Gene will be buried in Des Moines, IA Friday September 12th by Hamilton Funeral Home at 11am. There will be a memorial service held in Denver at a later date.

Brother Gene, you will be missed dearly. Rest in Peace.
