Last month the Cigar Hustler lounge added a series of rare true Trappist and Belgian Ales. Already we are down to our last Westmalle Tripel, halfway through our Gulden Draak Quad, and four Westmalle Extras remain.
So let's keep a good thing going!
We now also festure Trappist Rochefort 8, the "Green Cap." (Because it has a green cap.)
This is a true Trappist ale, made by monks, enterily within an Abbey, exclusively to support the church's work.
Described as a strong dark ale, at 9.2% ABV it straddles the divide between a Dubbel and a Quadrupel. Notes of cocoa and plums predominate with apple fruit characteristics as well. Naturally the complex taste from Abbey yeasts are present. This is a strong layered beer that will go well with darker ci**rs. It can also mellow and give good counterpoint to a pepper-forward cigar.
