It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved owner, Bill Holden. We have been so grateful at the outpouring of love and support as we grieve. Bill was always the life of the party! Join us for fellowship as we honor Bill’s life this Saturday starting at 2pm at the winery.
The tasting room will be closed Friday and Sunday this week.
As you all know, everything Bill touched grew and his family and friends plans to carry on his legacy through the Buccia winery. May Peace love and wine live on!

Cabernet Franc lovers - this one is for you! Our 2023 estate Cabernet Franc spent 21 months in low and slow toasted American oak puncheon. It’s elegant and earthy with a beautiful garnet hue in the glass. Notes of raspberries, graphite and a slight hint of herbs on the nose. Flavors of black currants and plums are layered with earthiness and medium tannins to create a smooth texture on the palate. Now available in our tasting room!

The French began to crystallize the concept of terroir as a way of describing the unique aspects of a place that influence and shape the wine made from it. Terroir is a term that encompasses various things. In general, though, it means “a sense of place.” Essentially, terroir encompasses all of the factors that go into producing wine grapes in a vineyard, from the climate to the soil to the elevation.

The soon to be Conneaut Creek AVA is unique within the larger Lake Erie appellation. And our specific site is unique within the Conneaut Creek due to our proximity to Lake Erie (.6 miles) and our sandy gravelly soil as shown in the photo of our young Cabernet Franc vines.

Wine Enthusiast says this about wines produced from sandy gravelly soil "Wine grown in sandy gravelly soil typically produces lighter-bodied, highly aromatic, and elegant wines with lower tannins, bright acidity, and delicate colors. The high drainage and heat retention of these soils force vines to produce concentrated, often early-ripening grapes, resulting in bright fruit and a transparent quality, ideal for both aromatic whites and early-drinking reds." In addition, our wines, especially our dry whites, tend to exhibit a noticeable minerality. Think flint, chalk, wet stone.
