Elbow Room: Historic Landmark

Elbow Room: Historic Landmark Sadly, the Elbow Room has closed permanently. We thank everyone who made it a great establishment. S Prior to being the Elbow Room, it was the OK Sandwich Shop.

The original Elbow Room opened in 1952, to the best of anyone's recollection. In either 1961 or 1962 it moved to it's current location at 418 2nd Ave N, Columbus, MS. Over the years, the Elbow Room has been loved by many. John McClannahan and his Bartending Dog, Buckshot, made the bar famous in the 80's. Legendary James "Son" Thomas, Walter "Wale" Liniger and Bob "Mississippi Spoonman" Rowell all

played at the Bow. Today, the Elbow Room is recognized by the Historic Blues Trail for its contribution to the history of Mississippi music, and we continue to support local artists. As with any girl, she wants to be loved and appreciated for what she is and does, regardless of how she looks. But, like every lady, she deserves an occasional make over, so we've been working hard to give her a face lift with many upgrades. The bar is lined with outlets and USB charging ports, and we keep a variety of charging cables available. A recent addition to the kitchen is an Italian brick refractory pizza oven for an outstanding dining experience.

I just want to take a few moments to thank all the musicians, local and abroad, who have supported and performed at Elbow Room over the past 6 years. You guys are a proud and permanent part of the bar's history. You were an invaluable portion of what made our little hole-in-the-wall successful, and I hope to some day be able to show the gratitude that you all really deserve.

I wish you all the best of success and hope the greatest portion of your musical careers are still ahead of you. And I feel fortunate to now have time to come see you guys performing at other venues in the area!

What a great night. Thanks to all who made it happen. Magnolia Sound Machine rocked the house.

THIS JUST IN: New Prize donated for our Jammin' 4 Jamie benefit tonight.

An awesome Peavey bass guitar with Peavey combo amp, donated by Cal Lindley!!!

It does my heart good to see so many people stepping up for such an amazing cause and truly good guy. Our patrons and friends at the Bow have continued to astonish me over the years with their generosity. It's probably the single aspect of that bar I'll miss the most.

P.S.: Somebody better win that amp for me! 🤣

Our last open mic was nothing short of amazing. Some of the finest talent in the world is right here in Columbus. We've been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience every week for six years. To our loyal musicians, thank you.
