This issue affects not only gay bars, but bars and restaurants across the entire state. As we work diligently to resolve our current insurance situation, we wanted to share a real example of how dramatically liquor liability insurance costs have increased in South Carolina.
Just three years ago, our monthly premium was approximately $500. The following year, it increased to nearly $2,800 per month. This year, the quotes we have received range anywhere from $3,750 to over $8,300 per month.
These rising costs are becoming unsustainable for many small businesses and hospitality establishments that work hard to provide jobs, safe environments, entertainment, and community spaces.
We remain committed to doing everything possible to move forward responsibly and appreciate the continued patience, understanding, and support from our community during this process.
