Not every piece of gear in the Club Greyhound Listening Lounge will be chosen because it’s the most expensive, the rarest, or the most “audiophile-approved.”

Sometimes it’s chosen because it has a story.

A friend recently gifted us this vintage Technics SL-235 turntable. It’s definitely showing its age and will need a thorough cleaning, fresh lubrication, a new belt, and a little TLC before it’s ready to spin records again.

To us, that’s the fun part.

One of the things we hope makes Club Greyhound feel different is that many of the pieces you’ll see and hear have lived lives before they found their way here. They carry history, memories, and connections—not just great sound.

This turntable is now part of that story.

Over the coming weeks we’ll document the restoration and, once it’s back to its best, it’ll earn a permanent place in the Listening Lounge. Maybe it’s not the last word in high-end audio, but it means something to us. And sometimes that’s worth more than perfect specifications.

If you’d like to follow along with the restoration in more detail, we’ll be covering the project in upcoming videos on our YouTube channel—from the initial cleanup to servicing and, finally, its first spin in the Listening Lounge.

Here’s to bringing another classic back to life. 🎶
