Posted • Tonight is CCBDC’s Open House! The Claremont Latin Dance Club will be teaching a free Bachata lesson, which will be followed by social dancing. Stop by Edmunds Ballroom from 7pm - 9pm (wearing a mask 😷) to dance and have a good time! No prior dance experience or partner necessary! 🎶

It's time for HAPPY news! We would like to announce that with an unanimous vote, Rachel Lau 💃 has been elected as the new President of the Claremont Latin Dance Club! 🥳🥳

As a terrific dancer and dedicated team worker, Rachel has everything that a great leader (both in dance and the community) needs to inspire, teach and guide! Thank you, Rachel, for all of your hard work and care you have given to our club - it has made our events a safe space where people of all backgrounds feel welcome and motivated to dance more and better 🤗💕

With this, I am handing over the leadership of the club. The initiation of the Salsa Club, and its gradual development to CLDC has been one of the most memorable parts of my time at Pomona. Although every end, especially that of our time leading salsa and bachata scene in Claremont, is sad, me and Ariane would also like to sincerely thank everyone 🙏who have participated in our events, workshops and social dance outings for the past 3-4 years - it's been a fantastic journey full of positive energy, growth as a dancer, moments of discoveries, new acquaintances, shared laughter and sense of connection. Never forget the power of dance to lift you up!

For the past couple of months, our source of joy and meaningful connection - social dancing💃 - has been replaced by social distancing 🙋‍♀️ ------------🙋‍♂️ It is crazy to think that following our workshop on connection at Motley, we were forced to leave the campus and each other while keeping as far away as possible from any other human being.

To lift up the spirits, let's recall our last event of the school year! We would like to THANK everyone from the bottom of our hearts ❤️ and dancing feet🦶 for joining us at salsa and bachata events throughout this year. However you might feel in these insanely unsettling times, take time off to practice some salsa and bachata moves - we promise, it will make you feel better! If you are a 5C student and you have participated in one of our events this year, OR would like to do so once we're back on campus, please register with Claremont Latin Dance Club on ENGAGE! The roster on Engage is how we get funding to throw awesome events for you next year, so PLEASE REGISTER and ask your friends to do so too!

1) Go to this link: https://www.pomona.edu/administration/campus-center/services-programs/engage-5c-and-pomona-clubs
2) Click on your school's portal
3) Log in at the top right corner (for Pomona -- might be different for other schools)
4) Click on "Engage" under "My Student Life" (for Pomona -- might be different for other schools)
5) Search "Latin Dance" and click on "Claremont Latin Dance Club" under "Organizations"
6) Click on the blue "Join" button on the right and you're done!

Pitzer students:
1) Go to mycampus2.pitzer.edu
2) Log in
3) Go to the "Student" tab
4) Click on "Engage" on the left side
5) Create a profile and accept invitations based on PZ information
5) Search "Latin Dance" and click on "Claremont Latin Dance Club" under "Organizations"
6) Click on the blue "Join" button on the right and you're done!

How to Access Engage Choose your home school's portal below. Log in with your school ID and password, and then click on the Engage link.

¡Hola bachater@s! We really miss dancing with you but hope that you’re doing well and continuing to dance in quarantine! to what ended up being our last event of the year — Bachata Night at the Motley! Thank you to everybody who came out and learned our first fully choreographed routine. We can’t wait to dance with you again in the fall!

What an amazing turnout - yesterday we had almost 50 people in a Rueda circle! Thank you SO much for joining us and bringing all the positive energy to the dancefloor!
