Next in our menu preview series: Marj’s Tomato Pudding - Jeff’s mom’s classic recipe, reimagined for the JD’s table!

This dish is like the one grandma used to make for the church potluck… just dressed up a little bit 😉 House-made sourdough, farm-fresh tomatoes, and garden basil baked into rich, savory comfort food, and topped with freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano.

Some recipes are just too legendary not to make the menu.

We’re continuing our Menu Preview series with a dish that balances bold, rich flavor with crisp, fresh texture! 

This is our Crispy Pork Belly.
- Premium pork belly, braised to perfection in an aromatic curry-spiced broth.
- Fried for a satisfying crisp and glazed with a sweet, tangy tamarind reduction.
- Served on a spicy salad of local Michigan produce: shredded kohlrabi, carrot, and apple.
- Topped with roasted peanuts and toasted coconut, for the perfect added crunch.

This recipe features his grandmother, Gertrude Daniels’ poppy seed dressing - a sweet, tangy family secret that has been perfected over generations.

We’re thrilled to welcome Susie Sutter as our General Manager! ✨ With over 20 years in hospitality, Susie began her career at Knight’s Steakhouse, building a strong foundation in restaurant operations and guest-focused service. She later spent several years in Chicago, gaining experience in one of the country’s most dynamic dining scenes, before returning to Ann Arbor to help open Knight’s Downtown, where she’s been an integral part of its success ever since.

Her experience, leadership, and passion for creating exceptional dining experiences make her an incredible addition to our team. We can’t wait for you to meet her!
