TANGO LINGO PART 1: The “shoe song” is an integral part of any social dance. Not only does it signal that the dance is coming to a close, but it also creates an easy and fun ambiance as folks change in street shoes, say goodbye to new and old friends, and start to clean up. Argentine Tango is a social dance with milongas (formal social dances) and Prácticas (informal practice sessions) at its core. Hungry for more? THIS WAS ONE FOR THE BOOKS: Thank you to everyone who came to our Beginner Bootcamp! We loved sharing Studio 11 with you ❤️ and introducing you to the wonders, and mysteries, of Argentina Tango in downtown Charlottesville! Our morning session focused on the fundamentals of walking and connection. After a delicious lunch we welcomed our regular dancers to the studio to explore the embrace and playful musical tools alongside our boot campers. Finally, we wrapped up with a mini Práctica (practice session). If you’re interested in learning tango you can join us September 3rd for our next Total Beginner 6-week series ($60). SPECIAL EDITION: Tango Drills for Skills 🛹 Join us 8/6 from 6:30-7:30p for an open level class focused on solo drills combined with some partner practice. We will be focusing on pivots, giros, and disassociation. Smooth soles shoes (or socks) 🧦 are a must! We will explore four exercises for improving giros, sacadas, and boleos. Beginners not familiar with these steps will focus on axis, disassociation, and rotation. Stick around after this class for a Práctica with 💫 DJ Emma from 7:30-9:00 followed by drinks 🍹 🍔 and treats on the Downtown Mall. $15 at the door or purchase a class card. T FOR TRANSFORMATION - Join us tomorrow, Saturday 7/11 for our first EVENING MILONGA from 7:30-11:30P! Studio 11 has been transformed to host this special evening event with DJ Yulia direct from DC! Parking is available behind McGuffey Art Center and on the street. Arrive early to enjoy workshops with guest instructor Masha from 12:00-2:30. Or grab dinner on the nearby downtown mall before the pre-Milonga class from 6:30-7:30p. Refreshments will be provided. $25 at the door (includes pre-Milonga class). We can’t wait to see you! ARGENTINE TANGO IN CHARLOTTESVILLE VIRGINIA: Regular lessons continue this week in Studio 11 McGuffey Art Center 📅 Updated July Thursdays Schedule: Intermediate Volcadas from 6:30-7:30PM. Previous experience in tango is required for this challenging series. Beginner Fundamentals continues 7:30-8:30 with an Open Level Práctica from 8:30-9:30‼️ Plus, we’re hosting a Mini Tango Weekender this Saturday! Join us for workshops with visiting instructor Masha and DJ Yulia (both direct from DC) Workshops will be held in the afternoon with a Milonga from 7:30-11:30P. And yes… we’re thrilled Argentina🇦🇷 is playing Sweden at 9P Saturday! So thrilled that we will be streaming the game for all you ⚽️ fans. USA may be out of the World Cup but Argentine Tango is IN! See you on the dance floor 🪩
