The Charlotte neighborhood known as Brooklyn Village was primarily African American community full of thriving businesses until the 1960s. Over a 10 year period the entire neighborhood was demolished displacing thousands of families. Brooklyn Lounge is looking forward to being part of the wave of thriving businesses coming back to this historical neighborhood. *

The J Murray Atkins Library has a wonderful posting explaining more about the evolution of the Brooklyn Neighborhood over the past 100+ years going all the way back to after the emancipation. I will post the link in the comments!
