ATTENTION: BECOME PART OF UNC-CHAPEL HILL'S "UNDOCUMENTARY," A DOCUMENTARY AIMED AT SHOWING THE WORLD WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT IN THE U.S.
Hey, everybody! ~
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Daniela :) I'm a 2011 Berry graduate and a current UNC-Chapel Hill student (I just transferred over from NCSU). I am a founding member of the LAC, and was with LAC until I graduated. However, I still visit every once in a while, give speeches, and stuff like that -- you know, cool kid stuff ;D
To the point: There is a group at UNC-Chapel Hill called Undocumentary, who are a group of students dedicated to making a documentary to show the world the struggles of undocumented students and those close to them, friends, family, partners, etc. However, we need volunteers to tell their stories. We're not asking for faces or names, but stories. So, if you (or someone you know, PLEASE PASS THE WORD) would like to volunteer, please know that we hold privacy to heart and respect anything you want us to share and anything you don't want to share. If you would prefer, for example, to not be video-taped (your face), we can record audio or your hands while you talk and things like that. I am personally volunteering to tell my story, and I am going on record - name and all - so I know the risk I face, but I want to show the world that I am not scared, because I shouldn't live in fear -- no one should. We want to show the world that undocumented students aren't different than those who have other legal / residential status.
WE ARE PLANNING ON GOING TO CHARLOTTE THIS SATURDAY TO DO OUR FIRST INTERVIEWS, SO IF YOU'RE WILLING AND AVAILABLE SOMETIME BETWEEN 3-6 (WE CAN BE THERE SOMEWHAT EARLIER IF YOU'D LIKE) TO INTERVIEW VOLUNTEERS AND GET STORIES DOWN.
