After careful consideration, it is with deep sadness that we inform you that the Boot Scootin’ Barn will be closing its doors at the end of January. As successful as the Barn has been, our owner Sam is moving out of state. The last night of the Barn will be January 27th, so y’all can join us for our last two weeks!
So where else can you go for country dance??
In Charleston/Mattoon:
-The last two weeks of the Barn are on January 20th and 27th, with the Winter Ball still being held on January 26th.
-The James Warren Winery is hosting a line dance class on February 5th from 6:30-8 p.m. Entry is $10, and it’s a beautiful venue!
-For fans of older line dances, there is a FREE group that meets on Tuesday nights in the Cross County Mall. The instructor there is experienced and does great beginner-level dances. It runs from 6-7:30 p.m. in front of the Rural King (inside the mall).
-The EIU Underground Line Dancing club is held on Thursdays from 4-5 p.m. For university students, this is a great option to learn new line dances! Free classes are held in room 1140 of the McAfee building on campus.
In Central Illinois:
-Prairie Land Dance Club is an older country dance hall in Illiopolis, IL. Dancing is from 7-10 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday night. Entry is $5, held at 650 E Matilda St, Illiopolis, IL 62539. While further away, it’s a great place to go with your friends!
We are so grateful for all the love and support y’all have shown our little dance hall over the last year. The sense of community that has been fostered here has made an impact on many, many people. We love you and wish y’all the best in the next chapter of your lives!
