Vinyl sales in the U.S. topped $1 billion in a calendar year for the first time this century, hitting $1.04 billion in 2025, per the RIAA.
That's the format's 19th straight year of growth.
Consumers bought an estimated 48.5 million new vinyl units last year, compared to 29.5 million CDs.
Per Luminate's data on new LP sales, Taylor Swift led 2025 with roughly 1.6 million copies sold of The Life Of A Showgirl.
Sabrina Carpenter followed with around 292,000 for Man's Best Friend, while Kendrick Lamar moved roughly 272,000 with GNX. Two catalog titles also cracked the upper ranks: Fleetwood Mac's Rumours (190,000) and Michael Jackson's Thriller (182,000).

Vinyl accounted for just under 10% of the U.S. recorded music market, which the RIAA said surpassed $11.5 billion in revenue in 2025. Streaming remained the dominant format at $9.5 billion.
