Always fun to take a trip down memory lane, thanks for the memories Pink Talking Fish!!
Hey everybody! Eric here.
I'm really missing writing and performing PTF Setlists. Seems like it might be a minute before that happens again...
So instead I'm gonna take a trip down memory lane and have some fun with you all:
Every day, I'll be posting one of my favorite setlists from each year of PTF. Today I'm starting with 2013. Feel free to share any thoughts or your own experiences with the band based on the year, any songs from the list, or anything you're feeling at all. We would LOVE to hear from you!
Okay, here we go!
September 26th, 2013 in Breckenridge CO
This was the very first Pink Talking Fish performance!
I had the idea for this band earlier in the year and told Denver Promoter, Jay Bianchi, about it. He loved the concept and offered me a 2 night run in Denver. I tacked on a warmup show in Breck and we were off to the races!
PTF was a revolving lineup for the first couple years. The lineup for this debut was me on bass, Brandon Draper on drums, Ben Combe on guitar and Ben Hutchinson on keys. We rehearsed in Denver at Quixote's True Blue all day on Wednesday and on Thursday afternoon. The tunes came together, the transitions got created and we were ready to begin.
Breckenridge is a fantastic music town and the place was packed with people who were intrigued by the concept. When we launched into the first segment, everybody got it. The energy was alive! 2001 > Young Lust > Slippery People > Sand > Slippery People. This set the pace to a whole new adventure.
Some other combinations born on that night which have become dear to my heart:
YEM > On The Run > YEM
Big Business > Interstellar Overdrive > Big Business
Big thanks to Matthew Karukin and three20south for hosting the birth of Pink Talking Fish.
See you all tomorrow for 2014!
