Not a surprise to see Trump's poll numbers diminishing in the latest Quinnipiac national poll, now below the lowest point Obama had in the whole of his presidency. Ahead for Trump on his way down are Bush senior at 29, Carter at 28, Bush junior at 25 and both Nixon and Truman at 22. Like Bingo, you can play this game at home. Stranger to me, however, were the details. After saying Trump was not level headed, did not have good leadership skills and was dishonest Trump actually scored a solid victory (60-35) on whether or not he was seen as intelligent. Then I remembered this forgotten nugget from Mankiewicz and Swerdlow's Remote Control (1979). They say that "something over 70% of Americans believe they saw John F. Kennedy's assassination live on their home screens." In fact, not a one of them saw it live on television, and the public didn't even see it at all until the highly edited Zapruder film was shown to the world in 1976. Some unknown baseline of the American people are simply wrong, empirically, factually, demonstrably wrong. It just can't be 70%, although of course that would explain a whole lot...
