If you were just a regular concert attendee or a Thursday night dance party guest, you probably never made it to the upstairs green rooms we had for the bands.
There was a common area and three private rooms. The larger was for the headliners.
Many tour managers would bring in their computers, printers and would work on advancing other shows during the days. They make one day office.
Each headliner would send us an email with their “rider” or items they wanted in their dressing rooms during the day.
On larger shows, the crews wood arrive early and be there all day setting up so there would be breakfast lunch and dinner.
Then when band bus would arrive, they sometimes just stayed on the bus until showtime and others would utilize the green rooms.
Some came in their own cars/ vans and some had the tour buses.
We had a shower and some of the crew / bands loved that because they didn’t have the ability to shower if on the road in their own car/van.
Their riders had, had requests, strange and normal food and beverage requests. We had a girl who would get the list and go to store and buy all their stuff. Ice down the drinks and make it a cool place when they arrived.
Some bands were VERY cool and some were ass hats. One manager and I almost got into a fight because we didn’t have enough staff to do what he wanted done. My security staff was ready to defend me and take him down. Did I mention we had the most kickass security!!!!!!
When the green room doors were shut and locked. You didn’t go in. Enough said.
Just sharing a few memories of the backstage times.
Silky.
