NEVER TAKE FOR GRANTED My intimate nearness. Marvel at the wonder of My continual Presence with you. Even the most ardent human lover cannot be with you always. Nor can another person know the intimacies of your heart, mind, and spirit. I know everything about you—even to the number of hairs on your head. You don’t need to work at revealing yourself to Me.

Many people spend a lifetime or a small fortune searching for someone who understands them. Yet I am freely available to all who call upon My Name, who open their hearts to receive Me as Savior. This simple act of faith is the beginning of a lifelong love story. I, the Lover of your soul, understand you perfectly and love you eternally.

Kissing God

There was a gathering in the
school's open-air tent. It was a time
of worship and praise. We were just
outside the tent listening.
"What do you think of," asked the
teacher, "when you hear the word
worship?"
"Singing, hymns, prayers, words of
praise..."
"That's the outward form of
worship," he said. "That's how
worship manifests. But what's the
heart of worship?"
"I don't know."
"I'll give you one definition, a
secret. It's found in the New
Covenant Scriptures. It only
appears in the Greek. It's the word
proskuneo. And do you know what it means?"
I had no answer.
"It means to kiss. True worship,"
said the teacher, "is to kiss. And
what does this reveal? What is a
kiss? A kiss is the most intimate of
acts. Therefore, worship is to be the
most intimate thing you can experience."
"To worship God is to kiss God?"
"In the spiritual realm, yes, to kiss
from your heart, from your
innermost being. And when you
kiss, you don't do it because you
have to. You do it freely from your
heart because you want to."
"So true worship is never done by
compulsion, but freely from the
overflow of your heart."
"And why does one kiss?" asked
the teacher.
"Because of joy."
"Yes," he said, "a kiss is an
expression of joy. And kissing
brings you joy. So true worship is
an expression of joy. You worship
out of joy. Your joy becomes
worship and your worship becomes
joy."
"Teacher," I said, "we didn't say
the most obvious."
"Which is...?"
"One kisses because of love," I
said. "A kiss is an expression of
love."
"It is. So then what is true
worship?"
"Worship is an expression of love."
"Yes," said the teacher, "It's as
simple as that: It's the most
intimate act of love and joy.
Worship is as simple as kissing God."

The Mission: Today, draw near to
God in worship, in love, in joy, in
the deepest of intimacy. Learn the
secret of kissing God.

THE WARRIOR OWNS DEFEAT

The warrior knows that honor is not found in the victory. Honor is found in the nobility of the battle. If the battle is not worthy of the warrior’s life, there is no honor in its victory. In the same way, the warrior knows there is no dishonor in defeat. Failure and defeat are not the same.

The warrior never claims victory for themselves but only for others. In the same way, the warrior never gives blame for defeat but owns it for themselves. The warrior owns defeat, therefore defeat never owns the warrior.

The warrior takes complete responsibility while never holding tightly to anything. Because the warrior lives with open hands, nothing can be taken from them. The warrior is free from all things and therefore is free to enjoy all things.

Ownership is not about possession; it is about responsibility. What you own matters far less than what you take ownership for. We are responsible for far more than what we have been given; we are responsible for what could have been done with all that we have been entrusted with.

At the beginning of humanity, God gave Adam and Eve ownership – not possession but responsibility – over all creation. Yet when Adam and Eve both ate from the one forbidden tree in the garden, neither took responsibility for their actions and instead blamed someone else.

You cannot change what you do not take responsibility for. When you blame someone else, you become dependent on that individual to solve your problem and change your circumstance. After all, if it is that person’s fault, then he or she is the only one who has the power to change your condition.

There is an unexpected relationship between blame and fear. When you blame others for your failure, you become powerless to change the world around you. You begin to live your life filled with fear, paralyzed by uncertainty and embittered by a sense of victimization. Fear may cause you to abdicate responsibility, but the abdication of responsibility will most certainly cause you to live in fear.

I praise you because you are Jehovah Elohim Yeshua, the Lord God of my salvation. In Christ’s name, amen.

THE WARRIOR FIGHTS ONLY FOR PEACE

The war to end all wars is the battle for the human heart. I have been asked many times over the years why the Bible depicts God as a god of war. I am always reminded that it is not God who created humanity to live in violence, but rather it is humanity that chooses violence.

God is tainted by being part of our story, but the story of God is a story of peace. He did not hope for peace; he fought for peace. The language of God as a warrior came to exist because he intervened for the defenseless. More than any of us, God understands the war that rages within and around us and longs to lead us to the end of violence.

We are people of war because we are a people at war. The way of the warrior is the way of Jesus. While others hoped he would call out an army, incite a rebellion, and use his power to topple an empire, he chose a different way. He understood the source of all wars. He knew it all began in the human heart.

The greatest enemies of the peace within are worry and fear. We have no control over the reality that in this world we will have trouble, but we have control over whether we decide to allow our hearts to be troubled. While worry will rob our joy, fear will steal our freedom, for what we fear establishes the boundaries of our freedom. What we fear has mastery over our souls. Depression is how your soul processes regret; anxiety is how your soul processes fear. When we are anxious, we lose our strength. When we are afraid, we lose our courage. When we have found peace, we have both the strength and courage to live the lives we were created to live.

Peace does not come when you finally have control over your life; peace comes when you no longer need control. You cannot control your circumstances, but you can control your character. You cannot control the actions of others, but you can control the choices you make. You cannot control the outcome, but you can control the process.

It may seem like a small thing, but when you get up in the morning and face your fears, you are participating in the redemption of the universe. When you refuse to allow yourself to be paralyzed by the uncertainty of tomorrow and set forth with courage and faith, you become part of creating a new world- a better world.

GUIDING QUESTIONS

What fear in your life has mastery over your soul? How is that fear creating boundaries to your freedom? Are you allowing anxiety to take your strength, or regret to lead you to despair? How can you begin to relinquish the need for control over your life to God?

Writing hundreds of years later, James, half-brother of Jesus and leader in the early church, also emphasized the importance of wisdom. “The wisdom that comes from heaven,” he writes, “is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17). When we seek wisdom, we find all kinds of good things flourishing in our lives.
To seek wisdom is ultimately to seek God, the source of all wisdom and understanding. And the wisdom that comes from above is worth more than any buried treasure we could ever imagine.

Joshua's new job consisted of leading more than two million people into a strange new land and conquering it. Every new job is a challenge. Without God it can be frightening. With God it can be a great adventure. Just as God was with Joshua, he is with us as we face our new challenges. We may not conquer nations, but every day we face tough situations, difficult people, and temptations. God promises, however, that he will never abandon us nor fail to help us. By asking God to direct us we can conquer many of life's challenges.

REMEMBER THAT JOY is not dependent on your circumstances. Some of the world’s most miserable people are those whose circumstances seem the most enviable. People who reach the top of the ladder career-wise are often surprised to find emptiness awaiting them. True Joy is a by-product of living in My Presence. Therefore you can experience it in palaces, in prisons… anywhere.

Do not judge a day as devoid of Joy just because it contains difficulties. Instead, concentrate on staying in communication with Me. Many of the problems that clamor for your attention will resolve themselves. Other matters you must deal with, but I will help you with them. If you make problem-solving secondary to the goal of living close to Me, you can find Joy even in your most difficult days.
