Mid-month filing: October Trials.

Two targets on the board. Arcade: Perfect Pour, 6,955.68. Pinball: Les Schwab, 7,928,840.

Perfect Pour scores to two decimal places, so a lead of 0.01 still counts as a lead. Pinball scores are whole numbers, so the margin has to be larger.

Rules as filed: all scores are welcome. Show crew a photo of your best score before October ends. If it is the highest submitted, it goes on the board.

Prize: $25 to Video Horizons.

Historical note: the origin of Perfect Pour.

DSM Arcade founder Dan Fessler was sitting in a Des Moines bar with a b**r, watching the bartender work a busy shift. The bartender ran back and forth between taps, orders, and customers, repeating the same multitasking over and over. Fessler kept sipping and watching, and then decided it would make a good arcade game.

He also had Tapper in mind. The classic bartending arcade game is the reason he liked the idea of pairing a bar game with a b**r brand. That pairing eventually happened: the Pabst Blue Ribbon Edition was teased in a video post in December and has since shipped to bars across the U.S. Pabst described the game as coming from an indie developer and being dreamed up in a bar.

Trial dispatch: October standings on file.

Perfect Pour on arcade: 6,955.68 - the decimal isn't a typo, the game actually scores pour accuracy down to fractions, which is more precision than most of the onboard Macarena crew. Les Schwab on pinball: 7,928,840, a clean number by comparison.

Both are open targets. Show crew a photo of your best result before October closes; the top submission gets logged on the board.

Prize: $25 to Video Horizons.
