Zach Cooper is a Grammy award winning composer, producer and songwriter based in North Carolina. He has contributed to works by Leon Bridges, SZA, The Weeknd, Jazmine Sullivan, Jon Batiste, Moses Sumney, Billy Porter, Helado Negro, and Maria Chávez, among others. Zach is also a founding member of experimental soul group, King Garbage. His work has been featured in Pitchfork, The Wire, The Fader, Rolling Stone, and Guitar World Magazine, and he’s released records with RVNG Int’l, Styles Upon Styles and Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings.

The name For Joyful Noise Listening Lounge and Kitchen came from Derek Truck's 2002 album "Joyful Noise". Needless to say, we are HUGE fans.

Tonight at 7:00 is the first in a new series of events co-curated with , an award winning record pressing plant based in Asheville. The last Thursday of the month going forward will feature a hand picked album pressed locally. The first event features a rare gem - "Music From The Land Of The Sky - The 1925 Asheville Sessions".

In the late summer of 1925, pioneering producer Ralph Peer directed a series of recording sessions for the OKeh label atop the George Vanderbilt Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina that would become the stuff of legend. They were the first commercial recordings ever made in Appalachia and included several influential “old-time” musicians (Wade Ward, Ernest V. Stoneman, Bascom Lamar Lunsford, Kelly Harrell, and Henry Whitter) alongside regional prize-winning fiddlers, banjo players, harmonica soloists, and even visiting vaudeville and pop performers like Emmett Miller and the Carolina Club Orchestra. The immensely entertaining and historically important records they produced include mountain ballads, folk tunes, ragtime instrumentals, novelties, and more; and yet, these recordings have been overlooked for a century because of their extreme rarity and technological limitations.

The long-play 84-minute vinyl double-LP includes 28 complete selections, meticulously restored from the original discs with no artificial enhancements.
