Introducing BYT, a new cocktail bar in Sathorn 12 Road.

BYT, in short for ‘Bright Young Things’, refers to a nickname given by the tabloid to a group of Bohemian young socialites in 1920s London. Wanting to forget the trauma of World War I, they swore by the ethos of living life to the fullest, and would often dress up flamboyantly and throw wild parties as a reaction against the values of older generations. This was also the age coinciding with the Prohibition in the U.S. where the serving of alcohol was banned, and so lots of fellow young ‘rebels’ as well as bartenders from the U.S. also came over to Europe. Hence, began a golden age of cocktails in the old continent. BYT is our tribute to this short-but-unforgettable era, albeit with our modern take.

Our cocktail menu is inspired by the Grand Tour of which it was customary for a young British aristocrat, as part of their educational upbringing, to take at least several months to travel to continental Europe. Recreating this unique experience, each of our drinks plays around with ingredients associated with famous European cities. Some of the highlights include: ‘Amsterdam’ (Bols Genever / Orange / Lime / Vanilla / Peach / Peychaud’s bitters); ‘Porto’ (Wild Turkey bourbon / Port wine / Maraschino liqueur / Angostura bitters / Lemon / Egg white); and ‘Istanbul’ (Jose Cuervo Blanco / Saffron / Dry vermouth / Mixed spices). In addition to these, we revive classic cocktails of the 1920s such as the ‘Fitzgerald’ (Bulldog gin / Lemon / Sugar / Angostura bitters) and ‘Mary Pickford’ (Appleton white rum / Maraschino liqueur / Pineapple / Grenadine) as we imagine those young men & women would drink back in the day.

Located between the quaint Sathorn 10 & 12, guests escape the bustling streets and enter BYT through our ‘bookshelf’ door. There are 2 types of seating available – bar area overlooking our bartenders expertly preparing your cocktails over mezzanine-height bar shelf and well-lit neon light; as well as a cozy sofa area fit for intimate night with your significant other or a weekend night out with a large party. We can accommodate up to 35 people and open everyday from 530pm – 1am with last order at 1230am (closes every Monday during the soft launch period).
