Our latest creation “The Mandalay Mule”, made with fresh herbs from our gardens. It passed the QC of our Gold Ticket event last week, with flying colours and high praise. Now available, only at The Gold Bar. It’s still not on the menu yet so ask at the bar and you will be rewarded with a refreshing herbal sensation with a perfectly balanced kick.

The Gold Bar is open and serving food but please be aware that access is still a bit tricky with the road works. Taxis can come via the new road from Sabai Sabai past Phandara Villas. Motorcycles can come the normal route but it is a little difficult.

Please be aware that, due to ongoing roadworks, The Gold Bar is not accessible this evening, Friday 4 September, but we are hopeful that the road will be open again tomorrow evening.

This is absolutely something that we should be aiming to achieve here on Koh Tao.

Fifteen sites were chosen from 40 applicants for appropriate lighting management, dark skies and the potential to accommodate visitors and support local tourism.

Sadly the Perseids Meteor Shower was more of a sprinkle than a shower this year and despite staying up and having a blast watching it until 5am, the photos are a bust.

So instead here’s a few sparkly emission nebula shots that I managed to grab in between the clouds over the past few weeks. The first is the eagle and swan nebulas, M16 and M17. It’s a stack of around 800 images. The second is the butterfly nebula, IC 1318 and the bright star is Sadr, in the central of the constellation Cygnus, around 500 images.
