Only one day to go and one artist left to highlight, gbgs very own… Minnet!

Minnet cut his teeth as a foundational member of Rough Lynx Sound in the burgeoning Gothenburg reggae and dancehall scene of the early 00s. After representing in many a sound clash, the collective has gone on to be a pillar in the city’s music scene ever since.

Minnet has went on to expand his sound beyond the sphere of reggae, produce his own music, and found his own label, Tram Trax, with a steady output of mixtapes and beats.

Come early on Saturday to catch Minnet play his finest selection of all things reggae. With over 20 years in the game, this one is sure to be a scorcher!

Blending heavy low-end, syncopated drums, and yearning vocal-infused production, this versatile Malmö-based musician moves within the framework of dubstep while keeping things open and evolving.

With DJ appearances on Rinse France, Rinse UK, Subtle Radio and releases on labels like Bait , De la… je l’espère, Katla To Records, their sound has reached audiences at radios and venues across Sweden and Europe. As a co-founder of the Melt crew and part of FNGRLCKN, Ekaliff has played a key role in Malmö’s bass scene through club nights and collaborations and continues to push it forward with their label Feeler Records, home for weight and personality.

Yesterday was International Women’s Day but doesn’t this apply all year round? We wanted to chip in our little bit on the matter.

The DJ industry has always been a difficult place for female and non-male artists for many years and it still is. From male-only lineups, labels not representing female or non-male artists, to only being given warmup slots, significant wage gaps and not to mention general sexist and misogynistic treatment from both promoters and audiences.

From day one we’ve always seen it as our responsibility as promoters to break this cycle of inequality and to actually make a difference. To the best of our abilities, we’ve always strived to bring diverse lineups absolutely stacked with talent from across Sweden and internationally.

And of course we’d like to acknowledge our resident JoolZ - not only for being the skilled selector she is, but for being such a driving force behind ensuring that we continue the efforts to bring about equality within the scene. Her talent as a DJ and hard work to promote female and none-male artists is a huge factor in what makes us who we are.

So, we want to take the opportunity to encourage female and non-male DJs, both established and aspiring, to link up with us, get in touch, send a mix over, send us your productions. The fight is far from over, but we truly believe that change is possible 💪

Finally back after a big bad summer break, with a big bad session to come wake up this city from it's slumber!

You asked for it, and we listened!
For this night we take it up a notch as we're bringing Rea from the UK - known for her high intensity DJ sets and Alyaz with his subbed out signature sound from Czech Republic. And just because we took a break doesn't mean we haven't stayed busy, to the contrary! We've got two more subs in our arsenal now, giving you six full scoops of bass pressure. Woi oooi!
