A nossa ligação ao artesanato de empreita, feito à mão começou algures no seculo XIX, e chegou à minha bisavó, com modelos clássicos para o trabalho no campo e apanha de frutos secos, alfarroba e azeitonas. A empreita é originária do Barrocal, da parte central do Algarve. No ano de 1917, as famílias de agricultores, especificamente as mulheres, dedicavam-se a fazer os cestos de empreita durante o
inverno, guardando alguns para usarem como ferramentas de trabalho agricola e as restantes peças, mais elaboradas e pintadas, utilizadas como peças de decoração e de uso diário, ficavam para venda aos clientes mais abastados, para complementar o orçamento familiar. Desde há muitos e muitos anos, esta atividade tem vindo a passar de geração em geração, pelas famílias algarvias de agricultores, atualmente vamos na quarta geração. Em Fevereiro de 1991, com a introdução no Algarve das primeiras rotas de passeios de Safaris, surgiu a primeira oportunidade de mostrar ao mundo o que é o artesanato de empreita algarvio. Nessa tarde de inverno, a minha avó e bisavó estavam na garagem a confeccionar as suas peças, pois era o sitio mais quente da casa, onde havia sol todo o dia, quando lhes parou à porta um jipe de safaris, que andava a fazer um itinerário de passeio para os seus clientes e a pessoa responsável lhes perguntou se a sua casa (garagem), podia ser um ponto turístico de paragem obrigatório, para mostrar aos seus clientes de todo o mundo, o artesanato de empreita que se fazia no interior do Algarve. Esse itinerário de visita continua até hoje, passados vinte cinco anos. Ao longo desses vinte e cinco anos, por cá passaram celebridades e televisões de todo o mundo. As gerações mais antigas tem vindo a desaparecer e são cada vez menos as pessoas que se dispõem a manter esta actividade viva e a passa-la de geração em geração. Com a criação da marca Intemporal, e aproveitando a evolução da Internet e das redes sociais, damos a conhecer e promovemos o artesanato de empreita algarvia, com um novo design, adaptado à actualidade e ao dia-a-dia das pessoas, com uma variedade maior de peças para utilizar em diferentes ocasiões, evitando que caia no esquecimento e que desapareça juntamente com as gerações mais velhas, que actualmente são as grandes responsáveis pelo seu fabrico. Actualmente somos produtores e vendemos as peças em empreita fabricadas no Algarve, por nós, para todo o mundo. Our connection to craft 'empreita' began in the nineteenth century, and arrived at my great-grandmother, with classic models for working in the fields and picking nuts, carob and olives.
'Empreita' comes from Barrocal, in the central part of the Algarve. In 1917, families of farmers, specifically women, were engaged in making baskets during the winter, keeping some to use as agricultural work tools, and the remaining more elaborate and painted pieces used as Decoration and of daily, for sale to the Wealthy Clients, to complement the family budget. For many, this activity has come to pass from generation to generation, in the Algarvian farm families, currently we are in the fourth generation. In February 1991, with the introduction in the Algarve of the first Safaris tours, came the first opportunity to show the world what were the Algarve 'empreita' craft. In a afternoon winter's, my grandmother and great-grandmother were in the garage where there was sun all day, when they stopped in front of the house a jeep safaris, which was doing an itinerary ride to its customers and the person in charge asked them if your home (garage), could be a tourist spot to show their customers from around the world, the 'empreita craft that was inside the Algarve. Throughout these twenty-five years, celebrities and televisions from around the world have passed by our work place. The older generations have been disappearing and less and less people are willing to keep this activity alive and pass it from generation to generation. With the creation of the 'Intemporal' brand, and taking advantage of the evolution of the Internet and social midia, we publicize and promote the Algarve 'empreita', with a new design, adapted to the present day and the diary life of people with a variety larger pieces to use at different times, avoiding falling into oblivion and it disappears along with the older generations, which now are largely responsible for its manufacture. Currently we are producers and sell our products made in Algarve, by us, for the whole world.
