Hot Goth Summer has arrived! 🕸✨🌑

Gathering Shadows, Pōneke's biggest mini goth festival, returns in January for a two-night ritual at Valhalla.

This year's festival showcases artists who embody a wide range of genres and styles, while still honouring the ethos of crushed velvet and candelabras.

Featuring members of Blutfleck, After The Flesh and Lady Parts this very Wellington five-piece exudes wisps of funk, post-punk, alternative-rock, and weird pop. Gracefully twisting and changing shape from ballads to bangers, The Blue Summer forges elements from the past and the future to make something not quite as good as either. Are they any good? Dunedin's Robots In Love combine rock and electronics with equal force, and a disregard for genres. A song could begin with a whispered voice and ethereal atmosphere and end with pounding drums and metal guitars. Even just a cursory look at their recent work shows their diversity, from the first single "Gossip In Your Head", a goth/dark-pop track with shimmering guitar melodies and haunting vocals, to the most recent "The Sequel", a blistering 6 minutes of metal riffs and Orwellian angst.
