Work:Room Presents Otosan

NOW ON SALE 🎟

Ryan Dickinson and Ultan Burke have been knocking out house heaters as Otosan on the regular from the moment they stepped into the spotlight. That first statement of intent, debut single ‘Do You Feel It’, has racked up over 2 million Spotify streams and counting since it dropped in 2018. Released later that year, ‘Lights’ also smashed the million-play barrier. The duo’s sound has been stripped back but unashamedly big room from the get-go; heads down, hands up melodic house music with vocal hooks that cross over from clubs and festivals to radio. Little wonder then that their Friday night residency on George FM, New Zealand’s No.1 national dance music station, continues to go from strength to strength. While 2020 went down as the year the masses embraced remote working, Otosan have made a career of it. Rarely having the luxury of being on the same continent at once, Ryan and Ultan have always found a way to make it work – their collab with bass music don Marten Horger on ‘Feel So Right’ (signed to Tiesto’s Musical Freedom label, aired on BBC Radio 1, 800k Spotify plays) began in Stuttgart and took in sessions across Australia, NZ and Amsterdam, where it was signed at the Amsterdam Dance Event in 2019. Otosan also played APRA’s Oceania Electronic Showcase there. ‘Right Here’ – the duo’s second drop on Musical Freedom, which landed in Feb 2021 – doubles down on the piano hooks

Cajama:

Born and bred in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, Callum MacDonald – stage name Cajama – developed an addiction for the aggressive sound of hardstyle and hardcore from a very early age. With no musical education to speak of, DJing at house parties enabled him an early form of escapism ande xpression. One of MacDonald’s primary influences was Double 99’s RIP Groove (1997). Widely considered a speed garage classic, it gave him his first taste of the UK bass/garage scene.

In 2015, his interested in music production was detonated when a friend introduced him to FL Studio. Hungry to experiment, the 17-year-old apprentice loaded the software onto his laptop one evening while working on the graveyard shift at a network operations centre. Initially preoccupied by the emergence of future house pioneered by the likes of Oliver Heldens in the 2010s, it was only after attending Rotherham’s Fear-Fest festival in 2018 that MacDonald rediscovered his attraction to UK bass/garage.

From that moment he set about transitioning towards creating his signature UK bass sound, but with a twist: “I didn’t come into the bassline scene to just blend in or go with the wave. I came from an EDM vibe and tried to match that with bassline to create a more developed version".

Bass icon ZERO has become a stalwart of the UK garage and bassline scene over recent years and his debut New Zealand tour includes a special one-off performance at Love Not Lost, Wellington on Saturday, October 15 2022.

ZERO is proving how hard graft and natural instinct can take an unknown producer to the pinnacle of a genre. Growing up in Woking, Surrey, Christian Williamson showed an inclination for music production but his skills grew substantially upon relocating to Brighton to enrol on a Music Technology course at the University of Sussex. The first Zero release surfaced in 2017, Zero’s first fully-fledged bassline collaboration Forget It with Bushbaby on Brighton’s Southpoint Records.

As Williamson continued to establish his distinctive, FX-driven approach to production, Arrival - as featured on Holy Goof’s Fabric Live ’97 CD series – was followed in 2018 by his edit of Enter the Dragon based on DJ Pied Piper & The Masters of Ceremonies’ chart-topping banger Do You Really Like It. 7 million YouTube streams later and Zero finally had the visibility that Williamson craved.

With live shows now returning, Zero’s explosive, high-energy sets will be dominated by sounds from the past, present and future, while a brand new 7-track mixtape Feel So Free (Guilty as Charged) promises to showcase Williamson’s newfound versatility as a producer, aiming to develop within the bass genre and mark Zero as a staple on the electronic dance music scene.

This tour is produced by Breakout Presents, an Endeavour Live Brand and Production.
