Of course we started the evening on the Little Blackwood patio with a magnum of rosé. 🤌🏼

Oh and we even got to take our favourite bar fly, Shane!

Big thank you to the team for holding down the fort so we could go and gorge on a buffet and watch some sheep shearing after drinking one too many glasses of Prosecco! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Conner, aka the most elusive man at Little Blackwood. He’s leaving us for across this ditch, and we’re all taking it surprisingly bad.

Naturally, we had to build this carousel out of footage of the ONLY time he was in front of the camera and some pics from the team.

(Sorry for making you take your glasses off then making a video that’s taking the p**s out of you not being able to see)

Anyway, he’s been the man behind the ordering, the numbers, the cocktails, and a huge amount of what keeps this place running properly… all while looking vaguely unimpressed by absolutely everything.

We’ll miss his dry humour, his Peach Bomb habit, and his truly exceptional resting bitch face.

Thanks for everything Con. You’ve meant a lot to this place and to all of us. Very rude to leave, but all the best. Hate this. X

Introducing Fergal’s entry for the Jameson Black Barrel Bartender Series!

‘New Zealand might be known for switching off, but Queenstown is built different. The Adventure Capital of the World. The place where your heart jumps first, and your feet follow. ⚡️

That is my inspiration for this Jameson Black Barrel cocktail.

Think the world’s first ever commercial bungy at the moment you step off the platform and everything goes quiet. Then, think full throttle across the water, spray in your face, heart absolutely racing. That is the vibe I wanted in the glass.

Jameson Black Barrel is the perfect base for it. Bold, smooth, and packed with that fired-up barrel character. From there I dial up the Queenstown chaos with hazelnut (because we all a little nutty here) then layer vanilla bitters and caramel for dark, rich warmth. I carbonate the whole drink for lift and snap, because Queenstown does NOT do flat. Finished with a sexy coffee liqueur foam for that final caffiene hit.

Add some fizz to your life. 🥃💥’

“Between the shake of service and the hum of the bar, I’m always chasing a moment of stillness. In Queenstown, it’s easy to find mountains on the walk to work, cold air in the lungs, forest tracks that quiet the mind. 🏔️🌿��For the Jameson Black Barrel Bartender Series 2026, I wanted to pour that feeling into a glass, using South Island ingredients that echo the Southern Alps and amplify what I love most about Black Barrel: toasted oak warmth, caramel depth, and that soft vanilla spice.”

The build:�🥃 Jameson Black Barrel washed with local browned butter to lean into those charred-barrel vanilla notes and add a calm, silky texture.�🌱 A dark, earthy amaro infused with kawakawa + beer, peppery, resinous, and grounding like a bush walk after rain.�🍠 A kumara shrub to finish, sweet-but-savory, bringing a lingering richness that plays with Black Barrel’s sherry-cask finish.

“This drink is my ode to the quiet places that reset me. If you’re watching this mid-scroll, consider it your reminder to find your own “quiet sip” and when you do, I hope this is what it tastes like. ✨”
