A Celebration of Craft Cocktails, Craft Beers & Local Wines Penny Black has breathed life back into the old Post and Telegraph office.

It is situated in the quaint historic precinct of Old Cromwell Town, on the banks of the Kawarau River. Penny Black offers signature cocktails, local craft beer, and wines, with delicious tapas-style food to enjoy All of us who work at Penny Black, love being part of this amazing space. Remembering years gone by, we kept to the Victorian era, honoring the first adhesive postage stamp, with a bend

towards the Industrial Revolution, linking us to the new Dunstan Cycle Trail. You can find us at the start of the Dunstan Cycle Trail, or for a short stroll through the Old Precinct. All are welcome... cyclists, ladies in frocks, men in top and tails, families wanting to gather. Please note that we do not take bookings.

What a Beautiful Local Event for our town and region.
Having been a long term resident of Cromwell, we have seen events come and go.. LIGHT UP CROMWELL is now celebrating it’s 10TH BIRTHDAY!!!
That’s WOW x 10!!!
From its humble beginnings in the mall to the now Anderson Park Rose Garden.
The wonderful volunteers who got this event off the ground and have persevered… kept on drumming up support, sponsorships and passed it on to willing and capable humans to take it to the next level.. it has grown to this amazing event that stands tall and proud and holds up to so many quality events in other regions of our country..
It’s truly local, it’s free and magical!!!

Pop down to Penny before the event for a sparkly cocktail…
Not sure if we should stay open for after Light Up Winter…….. 🤔

Would you traipse all the way to the old precinct for a delicious Mulled w**e..??
Would you cart your self aaall the way to the old part of town for a crafty cocktail???
