I have been recommended to a couple of real estates companies in the South East some years ago, to run ads or do business with them.
A few of them, I decided to visit the lands. I was driven with the company cars. Well, they have been fenced. Always 10 minutes to the capital city.
I would get crazy commissions. A very watery offers. Of course I could pull the crowd. I don't even need Facebook or social media advertising. I know people to talk to offline, they'd invest.
I have earned people's trust, hence I was approached by these companies or recommended to them.
Some of them reading this may see that this is the first time I am speaking up about it, because I ghosted them or would say: "not interested."
Why?
Everything no clear! Ć no clear at all.
I realized that this would be a cancer in the future. And I never wanted my name to be associated with fracas and anything associated with land dispute. Neither do I want those who trusted me to risk their hard earned money or start seeing me in a certain eyes.
Except I am the owner of the land and want to sell it, I cannot advertise for a land I am not sure of its history.
Some would meet just one or a group of persons in a community over a land owned by the whole community. They strike the deal with some ndį» ekperimacious Igwe. Igwe, Eze or Onowu will sell a land owned by the community and pocket the money.
The real estate guys know whatxup. It's not their business. They start selling. You the buyer will feel the heat. First, your money has gone. You can't build on the land. They have used your money to buga: buy more cars, houses with a touch of motigbenshional speaking online.
They are in bed with these community miscreants. You the final consumer will suffer itā not even the real estate Yahoo boys or the yahoo village elders. The community will come for you. You lose.
I remember someone once asked me when I declined his offer: "with this your over carefulness, do you want to die poor? Is it how your are going to make money?"
I don't know what they classify as poor because the last time I checked, I have never told anyone I wanted to buy private jet neither did I beg for food.
My point is, Real Estate in the South East is not clear to me.
You know why?
I am a pure Igbo man and I understand the issue of land in ala Igbo. There are lands that cannot be sold no matter what. These people are selling them. Ala į»ha, ala ndį» ichie. Communal land family lands are not sold. Only your own inheritance you can sell. That's why real estate in Igbo land is funny to me. Igwe cannot sell a communal land.
These communal lands were designated by our ancestors for the sake of food security. I will write more articles on this.
There is no way I will be advertising certain business because I need money, when it's against what I know as onye Igbo.
ArỄ na-eme ...
Lands made for agriculture are now sold to strangers in the name of development. Our environment is messed up. Concrete over trees and grasses.
Land in South East isn't the same as Lagos and Abuja. When you understand this, you thread with caution.
I paused!
