Zeal Dance Troupe is a multi-dimensional and dynamic performing troupe affiliated with National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Oyo state arts council and the Guild of Nigerian Dancers (GOND). It has grown from a five member mini-group founded on 30th June 2009 to a full fledged eclectic multi-member performanc
e organization registered for legitimate entertainment contracts and engagements with the Corporate Affairs Commission also resgistered and endorsed by the oyo state ministry of culture and tourism
Since inception, the Zeal Dance Troupe has produced numerous self-funded dance shows such as AYANMO in celebration of Professor ‘Femi Osofisan at 65 and OLOJU OROGBO, a multi-dimensional performance representation of the Sango myth held at the Arts Theatre University of Ibadan; as well as fruitful features on shows with various other dance/performing troupes around Nigeria and Africa; notable among which are the Crown Troupe of Africa, Oyo State Arts Council Troupe, the iDance Network, the University of Ibadan ad-hoc Troupe, Omalicha House of Words among many others. Zeal Dance Troupe has also featured on various home videos movies as performers and consultants. Zeal Dance Troupe possesses the characteristics inherent in an average international performing organization; it is structured around membership of various graduates and some students of theatre arts from around the country
with a sprinkle of some field trained professionals who trained within the framework of the theatre apprenticeship system hence promoting the synergy of town and gown in an positively explosive fusion of artistic ingenuity. The troupe does not consist only of dancers but singers, percussionists, writers, actors, costume / make up designers, song writers, scenic artists, poets, public relations experts, media professionals, etc. These individuals or group of individuals work with the troupe on permanent, contract and consultant based arrangements depending on mutual convenience; this flexible engagement principle is what has enabled the troupe benefit from a wide range of professional expertise thus resulting in quintessential productions anywhere, anytime. Zeal Dance Troupe’s clientele includes over the years includes but not limited to MTN Nigeria, GLOBACOM Nigeria, Oyo, Lagos and Osun State Governments, NESTLE Nigeria PLC, The troupe has also featured various television broadcast content notable among them is EYILADUN; A daily Yoruba BROADCAST CONTENT TO PROMOTE THE INTRICACIES OF Yoruba culture and OYATO a programme emphasizing on Yoruba culture transmitting at AfricaMagic South Africa and entertainment running on the Yoruba channel of MYTV (MYTV Yoruba) the second largest digital satellite PAY TV service providers based in Germany. Zeal Dance Troupe was conceptualized and founded by the visionary dancer, actor, singer, song writer, Yoruba poet, percussionist and choreographer; Adebayo Adebiyi, a graduate of theatre arts, University of Ibadan who has mixed academic expositions with hereditary artistry in an unusual mix of ‘out of the box’ performance concepts fueled by extensive travel and library researches.
