Southside Parlor has been part of Seoul’s cocktail story since 2013, long before the city became one of Asia’s most closely watched bar destinations. Known for its fusion of American bar culture, relaxed hospitality and considered cocktail-making, the Seoul institution earned its place on the international stage with a No.37 debut on Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2023.

On 28 August, Brian Lee, Bar Manager of Southside Parlor, arrives at Tiga Bar for an evening that brings Seoul’s bar culture into conversation with Ipoh’s own growing cocktail community.

Less about the distance between two cities, and more about what happens when bartenders meet across the bar.

In the movie of 2046, a writer haunted by a past love, he imagines a futuristic train- Room 2046, where people go to retrieve lost memories, but finds the destination unchanging and empty. The Train & Year 2046: Represents a place for lost love and memories, a symbolic escape from present pain, but ultimately reveals that you can’t truly go back, making it a journey of longing rather than happiness. this cocktail is a bold, contemplative finale. Chrysanthemum Gin and Wakame Seaweed Vermouth bring delicate floral and umami notes, while Umeshu softens the high-proof Spritz Islay Whiskey.

Garnished with century egg terrine, pickled cucumber, and pickled ginger, the drink echoes a sophisticated, savory twist on a dirty martini — a daring, cinematic ending to the night.

Inspired by the moment of Maggie Cheung encounters Tony Leung in a back lane supper scene, In the Mood of Love captures the delicate sparks of that encounter. A clarified milk punch, it blends London Dry Gin with Frangelico, Red Bean & Gula Melaka syrup, lemon juice, rose water, and corn soy milk. The milk-washing process curdles and filters the mixture, leaving a crystal-clear, silky texture that is rich, nutty, citrusy, and floral — a cocktail as subtle and intimate as the film’s romance.
