Every tattoo has its moment; every tattoo is a project, a memory, a reflection. It is a story told through marks – marks that follow one another, that communicate, that come together with other marks – designs – which interact with my body, with myself.
It had been exactly 10 years since I’d added any stories of marks to my body… and now was the right time.
Every tattoo tells a part of one’s life story.
This new project encapsulates a great deal about who I am today: it recounts the transition through a phase of life – the aftermath, the ‘whilst’, the ‘during’ – of a period that was not easy for me, at times difficult, punctuated by troubled episodes and insights gained through experiences that happened simply because life decided so, events that leave a mark just as a tattoo does.
Alongside this is the desire to preserve forever the loving affection left by a four-legged pet friend, who has left an indelible mark on my heart and for the rest of my life.
There are traces of different journeys, encapsulated in a single tattoo.
There is the story of a part of my life.
Welcome, new story told by these black marks: your lines – so precise, so confident, so neat – speak of who I am today, without forgetting yesterday, and looking ahead to tomorrow.
