Elva Mulchrone’s work stood out in NCAD’s exceptional graduation show in 2016. Her work is described as “research heavy” – research conducted at Columbia University NYC in this case – but at a certain point always makes a leap from the marshalling of information to a kind of abstract painting that has an inbuilt awareness of existing in an age of big data and the operation of algorithms in such fields as economics – her first field of study, as it happens.- Aidan Dunne

It is with a heavy heart, Eight Gallery Dublin announces it's forthcoming closure.

Eight has been graciously accommodated at no.8 Dawson Street by it's parent gallery and financial director at Sol Art Gallery since 2012.
With their imminent relocation and the need for a fresh start, the decision to end Eight on the right note was carefully deliberated and arrived upon.

For the best part of six years, I have voluntarily run Eight Gallery.
In that time, it has been my utmost pleasure working with a constant abundance of creative minds to whom I am deeply indebted,
and I know and appreciate that Eight's small contribution has not gone unnoticed.

A number of shows will be held before Eight's final closure, in it's new temporary premises on D'Olier Street D2 (details to follow).

Thank you sincerely to all who attended and contributed to Eight over the years.
On to the next incarnation.
