💎”FROM RHYTHM TO PHRASES”💎
Following the foundations explored in the first workshop, Part II will take a deeper and more practical approach to the art of performing with live Tabla during solo dance competitions.
✅The workshop focuses on understanding and developing rhythmic phrases, musical combinations, variations, and dynamic structures, giving dancers the tools to recognise, interpret, and respond to the Tabla in real time. Through practical exercises and guided exploration, participants will learn how rhythmic ideas can be transformed into expressive musical phrases and integrated naturally into their dance vocabulary.
✅Particular emphasis will be placed on musical awareness, rhythmic precision, improvisation, listening skills, and spontaneous interaction with the Tabla player. Dancers will explore how to anticipate rhythmic patterns, respond creatively to unexpected musical changes, and build a confident dialogue between movement and rhythm.
✅The workshop will also address the specific demands of a live competition environment, helping participants develop greater clarity, adaptability, stage presence, and confidence when performing under pressure.
✅Designed as a continuation of the previous workshop, Part II aims to bridge the gap between simply following rhythm and truly thinking, listening, and communicating through rhythm—empowering dancers to approach live Tabla accompaniment with greater musicality, freedom, and artistic expression.
