Welcoming Lughnasadh

This is the mid point between summer solstice & autumn equinox, where we celebrate the start of harvest season.

Join me on Saturday 1st August from 10.30am to enjoy a few hours outside, looking for wild food, baking bread & making a corn dolly.

The winning punner will receive a free place on a Feral Outdoor workshop of their choice.

Also known as velvet shank & velvet stem

25th January 2026.

One of the only edibles around at this time that prefers cold temperatures.

Picked, cleaned, chopped and sautéed in butter and garlic.

Found in Borsdane Woods growing on deciduous deadwood.

Delicious 😋

⚠️never consume any species you're not 100% certain about. I spent at least 20 minutes reading up in books on this mushroom, looking at its cap, stem and gills, watching videos etc. Before I was fully confident to go ahead and eat it.
