It's TONIGHT (Friday 11th)! Weston-super-Mare Carnival makes its return and here is some of the key information you might need to know.
Thereβs a new route this year. The procession starts at 7.00pm from Locking Road car park, heads down Alfred Street, turning left on to the Boulevard. Itβll then go along Waterloo Street and South Parade before turning left at the Cabot on to the seafront (Royal Parade) and ending at the Big Wheel.
No waiting cones will be put out and enforced along the carnival route during Friday morning. On street pay and display parking will only available until 4pm. Parking charges on all other streets will apply as normal. Please make sure vehicles are removed from the procession route by 4pm. After then, any vehicle parked on no waiting cones could be issued with a penalty ticket and may be removed, if itβs causing an obstruction.
β A number of road closures will be in place from 6pm on Friday
β These are: Francis Fox Way, Locking Road (West section), Regent Street, Alexandra Parade, Alfred Street, Baker Street (to Jubilee Road junction β for emergency access), The Boulevard, Waterloo Street, South Parade, Knightstone Road (South Parade to Royal Parade), Royal Parade, Marine Parade, Beach Road, Carlton Street, Walliscote Grove Road, Walliscote Road (Walliscote Grove Road to Station Road), Station Road and Union Place.
π If youβre using any of the following town centre car parks or are parking on streets inside the road closures, you wonβt be able to exit until the procession has finished: Walliscote Grove Road East and West, Walliscote Place, Sovereign Centre and the Royal Hotel. Marshals will be at Carlton Street and the NCP car parks to help with exiting from them while the carnival takes place.
Locking Road car park is closed today and will reopen tomorrow, Saturday 12 November once all carnival carts have left.
π
ΏοΈ Parking on the Beach Lawns will be available from noon for Β£5 a car. Please note, there are very limited disabled parking spaces available to view the procession. These will be available on a first come, first served basis.
