** ANNOUNCEMENT - THIS SATURDAY’S PUMP UP THE 70s SESSION IS CANCELLED **

The summer season has finally caught up with us, with holiday, heat, competing events and other things to do leading to a huge drop in advance bookings, something any events business needs to meet their overheads. And that’s exactly the situation we find ourselves in for that next session.

A huge thank you to those who did book, we’re really grateful that you did, because we do rely massively on enough people booking ahead. Unfortunately, not enough did this time. Please accept our apologies. All tickets will be refunded in full shortly.

This is the first time we’ve ever had to do this, in five years of running club nights in Taunton, so I guess it’s been a good run.

Pump will be back in October for the Halloween special, tickets available now, as they are for our big Christmas night out.

CAN YOU CHANNEL YOUR INNER NEW ROMANTIC LIKE RICKY GERVAIS?

That's right, way back in the first half of the 80s, a duo called SEONA DANCING came late to the New Romantic ball with a couple of cracking singles that sunk faster than a gangster tied to a slab of concrete and dumped in the river. One half of that duo, the now-legendary comedian Ricky Gervais, can be seen in this pic doing his very best be-suited David Sylvian / Bryan Ferry impression, and looking very dapper if I may say so!

But the question remains: can YOU dress up like those early 80s New Romantics? The Boy George's? The Durannies? The Spandau Ballerinas? Adam Ant? Even Steve Strange? Well, if you can, then do we have a club night for you:

PUMP UP THE NEW ROMANTICS!

On Saturday 01 August at The Lawns Taunton from 1930, we'll be remembering the great, the good, and the ever-so-pretty boys (and girls) who just loved dressing like the finest peacocks and peahens, swaying in the dance style of the day to all manner of classic tunes by the likes of KRAFTWERK, JAPAN, HUMAN LEAGUE, TUBEWAY ARMY, ROXY MUSIC, DAVID BOWIE, DONNA SUMMER and an unlimited number of synth, electropop and new wave tunes - definitely more than you can shake a stick at!

If you come in your best New Romantic gear (and make up, especially the boys!) you'll stand a chance of winning a pair of tickets to Taunton's newest music festival, Electric Summer, which celebrates classic 80s synthpop and introduces a few newer artists you may just fall in love with. This is a night where DRESS TO IMPRESS definitely applies if you want to bag those tickets!

PUMP UP THE DECADES returns for a 5-hour trip in the clubbing time machine, taking in classic tunes and dusted-down dancefloor gems from the 60s, 70s and 80s!

There'll be mop-topped legends of the 60s!
Medallion-men of the 70s!
Frilly shirted New Romantics of the 80s!..and so much more, in a playlist of over 90 tracks!

Fancy dress very much encouraged! When you're faced with three decades of music and fashion to choose from, you're spoiled for choice!

ATTENTION SOMERSET FANS OF 90s MUSIC!

There's not long to go until the PUMP club night lots of you have been waiting for.....THE 90s!

Yes, the date to mark in your calendar (if you haven't already?!) is Saturday 06 June at The Lawns Taunton from 7.30pm. Tickets have been flying, and the requests coming in thick and fast, which is just as well considering it's a FIVE HOUR club night!

Casting my eye over what people want, we see dance in the shape of ROZALLA, THE KLF, ROBERT MILES, UTAH SAINTS, MOBY, FAITHLESS and DEE-LITE, there's pop courtesy of HANSON, CHER, SIMPLY RED, SPICE GIRLS and TAKE THAT, synthy stuff from OMD, PET SHOP BOYS, DEPECHE MODE, THE HUMAN LEAGUE and ERASURE, soulful sounds from TEXAS, TINA TURNER, MICHAEL JACKSON and BOBBY BROWN, and an indie / baggy / rocky mix of BLUR, DODGY, HAPPY MONDAYS, PRIMAL SCREAM, REM, SUEDE, THE CURE, STEREO MCs and OASIS.....but that lot barely scratches the surface! DISCO DANCERS OF TAUNTON! How do you fancy winning Easter goodies?!
