Hello! South West BFLF team here. Allow us to get a bit sentimental for a moment...
Back in 2016 we were approached to do Big Fish Little Fish at Beautiful Days Festival, an event founded by The Levellers, held at Escot Park in Devon. We were asked to fill a 3 hour slot for a family rave in the otherwise unused Little Big Top on Friday afternoon (things usually get going in the evening historically). Obviously we jumped at the chance as we'd heard amazing things about the festival, but to say we had some reservations about how it'd be received by the crowd would be an understatement. Oh, and we also went up against the Levellers acoustic set on the other side of the site. A challenge I'm sure you'll agree.
That first year we promoted the "event within an event" online and even did flyers that were given out around the site, to encourage families to come along and check us out, and had what we considered a really good turnout for something so new. We knew it would work, but maybe might take a while to "bed in".
Fast forward to 2026 and we just celebrated our tenth year at Beautiful Days. The continued support from the crew and organisers really is appreciated and we'll continue to come back for as long as you want us.
We want to thanks our amazing BD crew past and present, every DJ that's played for us, and most importantly to everyone (with or without kids) that's come along to rave with us over the past ten years. We extend our love and thanks to event organisers Dave and Laura, and to Biff, Jo, Ray, Tom, Jamie, Paul, and all of the Little Big Top technical and backstage crew who always look after us so well each year. Huge thanks to Kirk Field who also joined us on stage to kick off our tenth year set, pus out special guest DJ Si 2 Bad Mice.
Our own children have grown up at this festival, literally, and it holds a dear place in our hearts. If you've never been, maybe next year you should give it a go?
