Wave goodbye. RIP Dave Ball.

A tribute to David James Ball (3rd May 1959 - 22nd October 2025)

Electronic music pioneer Dave Ball, one half of groundbreaking electronic music duo Soft Cell and successful acid house act The Grid, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his London home on Wednesday 22nd October. He was 66. Singer Marc Almond, Dave's musical collaborator of 46 years and Soft Cell bandmate, leads the tributes, describing Dave as a "wonderfully brilliant musical genius". What turns out to be Dave’s final appearance with the band came only weeks ago at the Rewind Festival in Henley-on-Thames, where Soft Cell headlined in front of over 20,000 fans.

Well Sinners what can we say?

That was a superb night and we can't thank all of you who made it down enough!

Many of you first timers as well; we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

We're off to regroup now and see what the future holds for IAS.

More to come on that we hope, we'll let you know!

Common People and Get Free have got a night at the Pioneer in a few weeks and we hope to see some of you at that too!

Rest assured - if there's another It's A Sin anywhere in the future we'll be taking the timing onboard!

Dear Sinners

We write this with a heavy heart, but it looks like this will be our last It's A Sin at the Pioneer in St. Albans.

We've always liked to be honest with our audience - so cards on the table - ticket sales this time around haven't been where we'd hoped they would be to keep IAS as a going concern, despite our biggest push ever!

We don't want to run a night that's not amazing; We're working with the venue to make sure the night will still be fantastic!

But to close, if you were thinking of buying a ticket for an IAS now is most definitely the moment!

We've been putting on It's a Sin for 4 years now at the Pioneer and it's been an excellent and packed night every time and we'd like to thank everyone who came for making every IAS to date such a success.

We really hope to see you at the alternative to 80's night this last time.

It’s A Sin HQ would like to state publicly that we do not condone the actions of Alt80s Music fans who projected a 100% genuine image of Robert Smith advertising our night on 18 Oct at onto Windsor Castle last night

While we understand the excitement, and have it on good authority that Queen Camilla is a big fan of all we do, we would ask our followers to avoid using public monuments as canvases in the future.
