THE ART & ORIGIN OF BATCHING
Batched or pre-mixed cocktails are very much on trend right now and here at PLUNGE Bar we have truly mastered the art of bottling and ageing cocktails for quick, delicious serves of our own expertly blended drinks.
Whilst you could be forgiven for thinking this is a new trend it is in fact a process that has a rich history dating back over 100 years - actually predating the emergence of “classic cocktails”.
The birth of the batched cocktail can be traced all the way to one individual, Gilbert F Heublein who in the early 1800’s is said to have pioneered the first commercially successful bottled cocktails in an accidental twist of fate.
Upon deciding to bottle and sell surplus batched martinis and Manhattans in his father’s restaurant in Connecticut, Heublein soon discovered a market for his products amongst the wealthy and elite.
As with most good ideas word of Heublein’s excellent products, which he named the “Club Cocktail” range, began to spread and Club Cocktails became popularised throughout the world.
