CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND HOW YOU FIRST GOT INTO DJING ?
My name is Ryan Platts, Im one of the residents at Casa and Cirque De La Nuit Ibiza. I play House and Techno music and I fooking love it !!!. When I was 13 there was a record shop on the corner of where i used to live, they used to sell throw aways and white labels for 20p each. I would go in there and buy 5 a week, not really knowing anything about them, I just loved the way they looked and was fascinated at the fact that music came from them. After doing this for a few months i had a collection but nothing to play them on, the internet had just come out so this was really the only way to buy records, my mum and dad made the decision to buy me some turntables for xmas … the rest is history.
HOW HAS YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY EFFECTED THE WAY YOU NOW PRESENT YOUR SOUND ?
After a few years of playing records at home in my bedroom finding out what I enjoyed, i became massively into hip hop i so i was proper into mixing s**t up and rolling, after a while of that, I got arrested and stopped and started to go out to nightclubs more often. This in turn changed my style, i went from hip hop to hardstyle in a matter of days, hahaha, then from hardstyle to hard trance, to hard house, to electro house, to funky house, to tech house, and then to what i currently love and play, house and techno, this progression took about 10 years.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A DJ FOR ?
I was bought by first Numark turntables at the age of 13. I’m am 30 years old now, almost time to get a real job. NOOOOOOOOT
WHATS DIFFERENT ABOUT CASA THAN OTHER PARTIES ?
When this amazing tunnel is full of people, seeing all there hands up and everyone moving to the same rhythm. I feel like we’ve all created a moment, just for 1 second each time, where all the people in the room are connected, like a massive African tribe of rave heads, human beings have been dancing to drums since the beginning of time, so it sits perfectly. this, for me ,, is Casa.

FAVOURITE TIME TO PLAY ?
Either playing deep 118bpm on warm up duties or as with Casa, main time, depends on the party, but i absolutely love hammering the hell out of it at about 2ish,
AS A DJ WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS ?
Im currently working on producing music so i would like to see these productions released, along with running Casa events, expanding that and a few other side projects, Also by then i would’ve shown the world my music so its up to the masses if they enjoy it or not… If not ill go and be an electrician for the rest of my life, hahahahah, I’m joking.. ill enjoy playing and listening to all music until the day i die. Me and Ben are also planning The Weekender, a new indoor festival here in the south west, which should be a pretty big affair by then. Time will tell. Start small, end big.
AND FINALLY, SESH ON OR SESH OFF ?
Usually sesh off as I’m getting to old and recovery time is about 5 days, but when it its sesh on its most def facking sesh on !!!!
