My Dear Friends, Treasured Customers of Old and New,
It is with the heaviest of hearts and utmost sadness that I could not tell you all this news in person. I am so sorry to tell you, that this week, under very unfortunate and quick circumstances, I have had to give a final close on the doors of The Lions Monocle.
Regrettably, with so many dire economic and unprecedented factors at this time, and over the last few years. That combined with an unsupported and nonsensical bureaucratic infrastructure, especially for SMEs, one’s hand must be forced. Sadly we cannot carry on trade, like many, many others under this collective immensity of pressure.
The last Six years has been the most beautiful and magical journey (with, of course, its fair share of trying times too) that I could only before having imagined to be possible. It has been an honor, to have served, conversed, and grown such wonderful relationships and delivered such and eclectic mix of drinks and delights with so, so many of you.
I can take comfort in the fact, of being able to have had the amazing opportunity and ability to have created such a peaceful and positive space in which so many everlasting memories have been made. – this has been the precious gift of them all.
Everyone and everything will be so dearly missed and treasured forever.
Now, after this time and the incredible abundance of positive feedback and generosity from you all, I feel although I made all that I wanted possible. I have always held the sentiment, that The Lions Monocle became such a wonderful place to be, because of all the beautiful energies that emanated from all those who visited, or became a part of the working cog that ticked so wonderfully for so long. I cannot thank you all enough for your endless support over this chapter of my life, and for having been a small part of the History of Paignton, in which I became its first ever Cocktail Bar.
Through the years, I have been so grateful to have been blessed by such amazing teams, feeling especially touched those who have been here to the end with me. Thank you Holly, Tara, Kharis, Tas (and Chris!) for all of your incredible support, love and understanding throughout your entire employment at The Lions Monocle.
You all worked so hard to help me keep something so unique alive, and I know that you all will have such fond memories to reflect on, as will I too.
I look forward to being able to enjoy making new memories ahead with you all.
I hope that anyone who has visited The Lions Monocle and made a wonderful memory can raise their next glass with me, as a toast to what has been a timeless and wonderful space for all of our dear friends and for those who met us by chance on a quaint encounter, from near or far…
Thank you and Goodbye, from The Dandy Lion, Indianna and all of the Wonderful Team at The Lions Monocle.
