Dear tango friends,
After two years of wondering and waiting since the pandemic obliged us to close down, we've finally decided, with heavy hearts, that la Milonga de los Domingos at the Globe will not be re-opening.
Since we took over Liliana Tolomei's milonga at the North Terrace when Lili returned to Barcelona in June 2011, we've kept our Sunday session of 100% Golden Age and Guardia Vieja tango going in various venues until we settled in the friendly, intimate surroundings of the Globe and we've welcomed dancers from all over the world and made some wonderful friends. We'd like to thank the lovely supportive team at the Globe, Liliana Tolomei and Santiago León for their monthly lessons, and everyone who has come to dance with us over the last 11 years, visitors and loyal regulars.
The first tango played at our 2011 opening was, appropriately, Tanturi's "Así se baila el tango"; here's an appropriate tango from Edgardo Donato to mark the end of an era - "El Adiós"
