We’re kicking our weekend off by heading over to Grub’s brand new foodhall / drinkhall / everythinghall in the heart of Stretford for a Nite School DJs evening session.

It’s another scorcher so The Brokers and Mikey are headed out in the wild, doing the only thing we know how to on a day like this: playing records, chatting valuable nonsense, and serenading Grub with some of those sweet, glittering, sunshiney Friday night vibrations. If you’ve not paid Grub a visit already, it’s a class new local spot run a smorgasbord of brilliant people & local vendors (inc NS favourite, Bakehouse 32!).

Come through for a drink, a dance, a nosey, a chinwag,.. or all four ideally.

ALRIGHTY!

⚠️ THE FULL CLUB TEAM SHEET HAS BEEN PINNED UP AT THE CLUB ⚠️

After a week of physically AND mentally gruelling tryouts… the side has been selected for the big, SPECIAL launch of Nite School x Metro’s Sports & Social Club ⚫️💨 🫲

On Saturday 4th July, we come together for the first proper day-to-nite outing of our new Stretford partnership, and it’s safe to say we’re VERY EXCITED.

Across three rooms of music & nonsense, we’ll be joined by friends from near, very far, suspiciously round the corner…and in some cases selected after a very tense committee meeting between The Brokers & the formidable Metro’s pro bowls committee (following a couple of skew-whiff shots on the green).

BUT WE’RE THRILLED TO HAVE THE FINAL SQUAD 🎳🌳:

FRIENDS FROM NEAR AND VERY FAR…

Joining us at Metro’s Sports & Social Club on 4th July, we’re very excited to welcome FANTASTIC MAN and CRAIGIE KNOWES.

is the long-running alias of Mick Newman. DJ, producer and label head, his sound sits somewhere between hypnotic club pressure, Balearic drift and deep, trippy electronics. Records on mule musiq, Love on the Rocks, Kalahari Oyster Kult, Basic Spirit, Superconscious and Axis of People have made him a proper DJ’s DJ. Spacious, weird, warm and very much built for the dancefloor.

is the Perth-born label and DJ duo of Max Spittal and Mitch Hunter. Celebrating 10 years of the iconic snail in 2025, they’ve spent the last decade releasing underground favourites, digging out gems and taking their genre-roaming b2b sets around the world. Expect the kind of records that make dancers ask “what is this?” at inconvenient moments.

Closer to home, have got some 100% rare Mancunian meat raffle prizes for ya 🥩

brings High Hoops / Freak Q***r Rave energy to the club. Belfast-born, Manchester-based and behind some of the North’s longest-running q***r dancefloors, expect serious party instinct, deep selections and no unnecessary nonsense.

To everyone who bought a ticket, dug through the racks during the daytime, had a dance, propped up the bar, winked as us knowingly during a record nobody else had heard before, stayed later than planned, or simply brought that very particular beautiful Stretford energy into the room: thank you. You made the first one feel EXACTLY how we hoped it would and it wouldn’t be the same anywhere else on earth. ♥️

Huge love to Nige, Anya, and the whole Fountain family for opening the doors to one of Stretford’s best independent spaces and doing silly, lovely stuff with us after hours.

THANK YOU selectors .bent for slamming out a brilliant, non-stop wax journey alongside - we loved every second of it.

Biggggggup as always to the whole Nite School crew, bar team, door staff, and all you all-round good eggs who make these little ideas actually happen.

FOUNTAIN BY NITE | 001
Saturday. Stretford. It’s very much on.🧨

We’re buckling up with some of our bestest Stretford bezzies at for the first in a brand new run of INTIMATE day-to-nite in-store sessions… tucked away amongst one of the finest racks in the land. 🫦🤌

Early doors (during regular opening hours) we’ll be spinning from early afternoon so expect a smorgasbord of the weird & wonderful - so come by & dig, mooch, chat each others absolute ears off about records, and generally ease yourself in…

… Because, when the shop shuts & lights go low, Fountain has been known to become something else entirely… 👹

👥 Part record shop gathering.
🦵 Part neighbourhood knees-up.
⏰ Part reason to turn up at home, later than planned, with a bag full of records (and maybe even a bunch of new eccentric buddies).

We’ve already told you there was another Stretford collaboration waiting in the wings.

And this one’s a biggun.

On Saturday 4th July, & crew will be putting on their best-pressed suits to launch the first in a new programme of day-to-nite shebeens at one of Stretford’s most discreetly iconic local institutions -

The bowling green.
The function room.
The bar.
The carpets.
The hum of a proper social club.

Following the joy, the raffles and the deep local warmth of the Nite School x Metro’s Gala at (BIG LOVE TO ALL OF YOU WHO JOINED US ♥️), we all knew this one couldn’t be left as a one-off…

Expect music inside and out, bowling green involvement, street food, workshops, social club energy, summer madness, proper drinks, familiar faces, unexpected guests and The Brokers doing what The Brokers do best…

Turning up somewhere deeply familiar and inviting you all over for a bloody nice time.

But trust us when we say this one is going to be a one to remember… with friends from both very near and very very far joining us across three spaces of music.

Ahead of the full announcement of the first party in our long-term collaboration with our neighbours & friends at on Saturday 4th July, we had a lovely chat with the brilliant folk over at about Nite School, Metro’s, and the dream of a new social life of Stretford.

The piece looks at why this partnership is bigger than finding a room to make some noise in.

Metro’s has been part of Stretford’s social fabric for more than a century, with its bowling green, function room, bar, members, stories and rituals already firmly in place.

For us, this is about joining forces with what already exists and finding new ways to bring it to life.

Metro’s brings deep local roots. Nite School brings DIY dance culture, curation, artists, dancers… and bad bad puns.

Together, we’re hoping to build something practical, respectful and properly Stretford (and have tonnes of fun along the way)
