MARICUMBIA PRESENTS: PACHA MA**CA 🌳🌈🌎🍂 22nd of AUGUST at Arcade East
LCF London College of Fashion - Official have invited MARICUMBIA for their taking over The Arcade East exhibition space, at 182 Mare Street, London, E8 3RE. With performances, film installations, illustration and a DJ set from QTBIPOC artists based in the UK and South America/Abya Yala.
Abya Yala: The continent, that includes all of the America's from the far north, central, south, Caribbean and pacific islands. Other definitions include: 'ripe earth'/'flowering land'/'land in its full maturity'
This event intends to embolden the voices of QTIBPOC artists and their expression of their personal relationship to the earth and nature.
An alternative response to the Extinction Rebellion's action on Waterloo bridge in April 2019. QTIBPOC voices around the issue of climate change is unheard of and erased. The Extinction Rebellion's action underminds the work that people of colour on the frontlines of climate change do. Their action risked undocumented persons through no consideration of the safety of sensitive migration status's.
The overwhelming support they gained as an activist group is paramount to the support and solidarity shown to black and brown and indigenous lead dissidents groups such as The Wretched of the Earth Movimiento Jaguar Despierto - MJD, and The London Latinxs
QTIBPOC voices around the issue of climate change is unheard of and erased. This exhibition intends to grant a space for personal q***r expression of what the earth/nature means to q***r people of colour.
