We first started fusion dancing 10 years ago in London when a very small group of blues dancers with other backgrounds like tango, breakdancing, swing, decided to experiment in a quirky little underground club in Hackney. We were called 'The Experimental Alternative Blues Collective' - always meant to change that to a more snappy name but it just kinda stuck. We danced to dubstep, electronica, hip
hop, and when Sahar could get away with it - Sean Paul. A few years later after the inevitable turn of 'dodgy Hackney nightclub turned trendy Hackney cafe' we took the party outside and started dancing in the summer months in the fountains at Granary Square. We became 'Fusion In The Fountains' and the event description simply read 'We Get Wet'. Many years and parties later at various venues across London, we created Fluid Fusion - the first full weekend that happened in November 2021 in various venues across London. We're so happy to still be hosting dance events, with the same creative energy, lovely vibes, and even better dancing now we are better trained! We are aimed at intermediate to high-level dancers with training in one or more social partner dance disciplines, e.g. Blues, Tango, West Coast Swing, Zouk, Forró, Swing, Ballroom etc. Open to exploring the boundaries between styles and experimenting with crossover movements, new music styles and lead/ follow improvisation is what we're about. Note though we’re much more prone to the slow, sultry Blues and Tango-esque vibes, rather than high energy dances like Salsa and Lindy Hop (and if you wanna chuck in a bit of acro or street then yay - we even have regular appearances from Leggy Stardust on her rollerskates!). If you don't feel you fit this bill yet but want to, please contact us and we'll advise where you can go for group and private lessons, and very much look forward to welcoming you when the time is right.
