❤️❤️❤️
The last few weeks have been a complete rollercoaster for everyone at Glasgow University Union and within the University of Glasgow community. From an unprecedented Freshers' Week through to the current outbreak in student halls, our entire community has rallied together to do what we can to help in these unprecedented times.
Our Board of Management, Staff and Freshers' Helpers have been working around the clock to help students and the University, doing what we can to give the best possible experience to our Freshers' whilst also aiding with the response action plan:
- Our helpers and board have helped delivered meals to 100's of isolating students across the different halls sites
- We've helped deliver mail and post to 1000's of students at Murano, making sure Freshers' get everything from essential supplies and packages from home to birthday presents and their latest ASOS garms
- We have helped the University living support team with checking on the welfare of students, offering practical advice, support and guidance from other students about how to get involved in University life and the Unions
- Tonight, our Entertainments committee have set up students in isolation with tickets for a virtual 'Bongos Bingo' hosted by the band Clean Bandit, organised by GUU in collaboration with other Student Unions across the country
We're working on other plans and activities with our committees to further reach out to Freshers', making sure they know that the GUU is a home away from home and doing what we can for them at these uncertain times.
A huge thank you to all our Board Members, Staff, Volunteers and Helpers who have been involved in helping so far and for all the efforts of the last few weeks. We're so proud of the efforts everyone has put in.
Much love,
Board of Management 2020/2021
