The Narrows of Faringdon

To all our friends and loyal Customers;

We sadly announce that we will be closing the doors on The Narrows of Faringdon, the week after FollyFest (Sunday 13th of July). We have been presented with a new opportunity that we really can't say no to, which will require us to be situated in Paris.

We've been extremely fortunate that our business here has always been well supported and profitable, so we're incredibly grateful for all those who've ventured through our doors over the last four years. We have tried finding somebody with the appropriate skill and experience to continue the business, but unfortunately we've found no viable options.

We would like to offer special thanks to our current staff members Natasha, Beth and Hollie and those who have worked for us throughout the years; without whom, we could not have achieved what we have to date. We would also like to thank those who were essential for our business and others like us to come to town. These people are often overlooked and do not receive the full credit they deserve given how much they contribute to businesses and the community here. So a special thank you to Bethia Thomas , Smith, Edwards, Cane, Vincent, Farmer, Thurston ☆, Bentley, Wise, Grant and anyone else I've forgotten to include, who have helped made this business a reality.

Please remember that this is not easy for us to write, and staff members are losing jobs that they've held for a long time, so please if you leave a comment, do so with kind consideration. Faringdon is a special place, and small businesses like ours help make it a great place to live. Businesses like The Bell, The Folly Inn, The Swan, The Crown, Las Chicas, The Wheat sheaf and Gin to my Tonic among others are the social lifeblood of the town, and we would encourage people to support all of our small hospitality businesses, as without them Faringdon becomes a far less attractive place to live.

Over the next few weeks we will be reducing our levels of stock, and running many drinks deals, so come down and see what we have going on! We're looking forward to a massive party at FollyFest, it'll be one to remember.

Join us this SATURDAY for Faringdon's one and only three legged race!! Race registration opens at 6:30 PM in The Crown’s Courtyard, with the race kicking off at 8:00 PM. Race entry donation is just £5 per person in advance (purchase here: https://www.justgiving.com/cro.../funding-dory-3-Legged-Race) or £8 on the night.

Fancy dress - creativity in your costumes is encouraged, but not compulsory! The winners of the ‘Best Fancy Dress’ will win a free drink courtesy of The Crown!
The over-all Race Champions will receive a delightful 3-course meal for two at The Crown, while second place earns pintxos & cocktails for two at La Caverna. The third place prize will be a £30 cocktail voucher for The Narrows, 3 runner up teams, will each be rewarded with bottles of champagne or wine donated from the other participating pubs.

We’re thrilled to introduce a raffle with some incredible prizes. The top prize is an overnight stay in the luxurious Courtroom Suite at The Crown, including breakfast, valued at £300! Additionally, The Advertiser magazine is donating a £150 cash prize. Raffle tickets will be available on the night during registration, be sure to grab your tickets for your chance to win!

This year’s event will raise funds for two wonderful causes: The Place, Faringdon’s Family and Children’s Project, and The Folly Tower Restoration Project. By participating, you’ll be supporting these wonderful local charities and helping to make a positive impact in our community.

There will be an after-party in the Ballroom with music from local band, Young Rosie. We’ll be announcing the Race Winners and drawing the raffle at the party so be sure not to miss it!

If racing isn’t your thing, you’re still welcome to join in the fun as a spectator. Come along and cheer from the market square and enjoy the sight of creative costumes and the lively atmosphere as participants dash between pubs.

Wow, what an incredible night! We would like to thank all of our customers, staff, and cheerleaders from the sidelines. What we’ve managed to achieve this year against the backdrop of particularly challenging national trading conditions is astonishing. We couldn’t do what we do without the support that you all have shown us, and we’re extremely grateful. We’d like to give a shout out to all the local hospitality independents who, like us, have supported and invested in Faringdon. They all add genuine value to our town, and the overall experience of living in and visiting here. So, in no particular order, a BIG thank you to; The Folly Inn Faringdon, Las Chicas Faringdon, The Sadlers, Faringdon, The Old Crown Coaching Inn, Faringdon., The Wheatsheaf Faringdon, The Swan & The Faringdon Brewery, Faringdon, Viceroy Tandoori, The Gin To My Tonic Event Bar Faringdon (congratulations😉), and any others we might have missed. If you are planning a trip to the Narrows over the festive season, please note the following trading days and hours. Thank you, and a very Merry Christmas to you all!

Monday 18th Dec: Closed

Tuesday 19th Dec: Open from 6pm - 11pm

Wednesday 20th to Saturday 23nd Dec: Open as usual

Sunday 24th Dec (Christmas Eve): Open as usual

Monday 25th Dec (Christmas Day): Closed

Tuesday 26th Dec (Boxing Day): Open as usual

Then open as usual until:

New Year's Eve (31st Dec): 5pm - 4am(ish) (last entry 1am)

From New Year's Day until Thursday the 4th of January we will be closed.

We will open as usual on Friday the 5th of January and Saturday the 6th.

We will then close from Monday 8th of January to Wednesday the 10th, and open as usual thereafter.

What's going on at The Narrows
For New Year's Eve?

Join us at The Narrows of Faringdon for New Year's Eve for an evening of music, entertainment and quality beverages! Doors will open from 5pm and entry will be free (no ticket required) until 4am(ish) (last entry is at 1am).

Entertainment will include 60s 70s and 80s music, champagne cocktails and a countdown to the New Year!! If you make it in before Midnight you can expect a COMPLIMENTARY glass of bubbly.

Dress code is smart casual. If you are fortunate enough to appear under the age of 25, please bring a passport or driving licence along with you as proof of age.

Join us for Festive Faringdon and the Christmas light switch on - Saturday 2nd of December. We will be serving MULLED WINE and MULLED CIDER from 3pm, with the switch on taking place at 5pm.
