SLÁINTE & SIPS @ THE FALSE WIDOW (Irish Lessons X Drams)

Here we go again! After our sold out night at the Mother Superior earlier in the Springtime, we are back with another Irish language learning-whisky event. Except this time we will be hosting it !

If you’re curious about learning to speak Irish, or seeing how it compares to your Scottish Gàidhlig then this would be the perfect event for you. (Or maybe you just fancy an excuse to enjoy some nice whisky and have a bitta craic, which is also perfectly valid…)

The tasting will be brought to you by Mother Jane, Caitríona (of Soops) and our lovely friend Niamh who is an Irish teacher and native speaker from Connemara, now based in Edinburgh.

There will be a cheeky discount for those who are brave enough to order their pint as Gaeilge at the bar afterwards. Tickets are £15 pp and can be booked directly through the False Widow or by following the QR code.

Join us for a relaxed, welcoming session where you’ll start with a Highball on arrival to ease into the vibe. You’ll then explore 4 drams with guided tastings, followed by a friendly Irish lesson covering the basics of the language and handy phrases like how to order in a bar. Open to all levels, so whether you’re curious or a connoisseur, you’ll fit right in.

ELEVENSES
an indy bottler in the heart of Leith. You'll also probably have seen their other brand Fragrant Drops. Every drop of liquid that comes from these iconic duo (trio with Broonie) is sensational ✨️

MOONWAKE
a brewery located down by the shore, well known for making tasty beer and just being good people. Their Helles lager pairs perfectly with this dram.

Perfect Serve:

Botanist Gin, Tonic Water and Citrus Zest

Bruichladdich hold a close place in our hearts, they hosted us at their distillery last month and their commitment to sustainability is an inspiration to other Whisky and Gin Distilleries!

The Botanist uses 22 hand foraged botanicals grown on islay which give a it a summery citrus character with a slight slaty finish. Perfect for enjoying in our sunny outside seating area!
