New gig announcement! This December we have Problem Patterns and Pink Pound coming at you at The Wee Red Bar! Tickets available now from link in bio 🎫

Problem Patterns
Your favourite weird irish slop rock / punk band are going nowhere. Continuing to take their iconic brand of fun & chaotic live sets all over the world in 2026. While also touring their latest EP release ‘Boring Songs for Boring People’ which is out on Alcopop right now. Coming to a town near you, probably.

Pink Pound is the demi-drag stage persona of Andrew Milk (Current Affairs, Shopping) summoned for solo performance work and as an electronic music project. Milk creates a kaleidoscopic landscape of fist pumping Hi-NRG gay disco and introspective bedroom pop that explores identity, power dynamics and joyful connection found within q***r spaces both physical and intangible. The music was best described by a fan recently as “The Yassification of New Order”💅.
In August 2022 the debut album ‘Cottage Industry’ came out via American record label Cruisin’ Records- Milk’s first full length release as a solo artist.

Affectionate Widows part 2: we catch up with Jude, the dark widow.

I want to go up north soon and be in the forest lots. It calms me and gives me ideas.

Jude:
It’s been so nice to explore Edinburgh this summer too! Why go anywhere when so much of the world comes here?

What’s your summer jam this year? ☀️

Jude:
Absolutely love the new Kira Ketover album. Such a talanted person we’ve been lucky to share a scene with. A day on the beach with her music is like walking in fairyland. She’s tied with Mitski who’s been there for me on the dark summer nights

Jude:
I’ve been enjoying nightwalks up on Blackford Hill where all the ghosts live. They keep me cool.

Any Edinburgh Fringe plans?

Jude:
Playing fiddle anywhere and anytime I can. I’ve been learning so much about my instrument as well as trying to master a new one; the concertina. Excited to show off this 9/11

We caught up with The White Widow, Marta, from Affectionate Widows for our Summer Interview. Affectionate Widows play live at Leith Depot Friday 11 September for our next Q***r as Punk. Ticket link in Q***r as Punk bio 🎫

Your dream summer holiday? 🏖️
Marta: I’m feeling quite introverted this summer, so a nice secluded dark cave somewhere in the mountains would be delightful.

Affectionate Widows
What’s your summer jam this year? ☀️
Marta: ‘How To Fight’ by Eartheater. It always leaves me cold in the warmest of ways.

How are you keeping cool in the heatwaves? 🧊
Marta: Thankfully our lovely mild Scottish climate is doing all the work by itself.

Any Edinburgh Fringe plans?
Marta: To leave my vault as rarely as possible 🦇 if only after nightfall.

Q***r as Punk Summer Interview series continues. We’re grilling on their sounds of the summer and more. See Vexations live headlining our next gig on Friday 11 September at Leith Depot. ☀️😎

What’s your summer jam this year?

Vexations:
Montpellier Codex: Puisque bele dame m’eime - Flos Filius (Mo 231)

If

All World Cowboy Romance

Somewhere Good

Ants in the Hive

Uranium

Tuxedo Rap

Presume Too Far

Here Comes the Sun - 2019 Mix

Your dream summer holiday?

Vexations:
Recording a second EP in a set of squalid practice spaces and overheating rehearsal rooms where the inadequate acoustic insulation only serves to increase the overall temperature. We’d like to go to Benidorm.

How are you keeping cool in the heatwaves?

Vexations:
By taking so long over recording that we forget how the songs are supposed to go.

Any Edinburgh Fringe plans?

Vexations:
Mary Lattimore during the daytime. Creepy Boys: SLUGS at night.

Q***r as Punk summer interview series 2026 is here. ☀️ We grill the band Wassails, who are the openers for our next gig on September 11th at Leith Depot.

Wassails are a new project from Dash of Unbegun (Unbegun played Q***r as Punk in 2022), with veterans of the Edinburgh poetry scene Andrew and Roddy. [The Ross mentioned is Ross McCleary, who is doing one show on the PBH Free Fringe on Wed 12 Aug at Banshee Labyrinth at 20:15 in a split bill with Stef Mohammed.]

Summer Interview: Wassails

What’s your summer jam this year?
Roddy: Pretty Green or Town Called Malice
Andrew: More of a marmalade man.
Dash: Rediscovering the lesser-known J Robbins project Burning Airlines.
Andrew: I am actually enjoying Drop Dead by Olivia Rodrigo, JJ Bull’s Unofficial Scotland World Cup song and Designed to lose by Twilight Sad.
Roddy: I’d also chime in with Godzilla Rises by Being Dead and Solstice by Whin.
Andrew Oh and I discovered Spencer Krug did a piano version of I’ll Believe in Anything.
Roddy: Would it shock you to know I have also been listening to that?
(Andrew, at this point, wordlessly indicates his lack of shock)

Your Dream Summer Holiday?
Andrew: I fear change
Dash: Doing nothing
Roddy: I once had a dream where I went to Barcelona, but it looked suspiciously like Granton.

How are you keeping cool in the heatwaves?
Andrew: I am effortlessly cool
Dash: Trying to do nothing
Roddy: Living in Scotland

Any Edinburgh Fringe plans?

Roddy: My hair changes for no city.
Andrew: Contempt for the bloated carcass that continues its sweaty smothering of this flammable theme park/might go see my friend Ross’ show.
Dash: Doing nothing (I’ll also go to Ross’s show fine).
Roddy: If I haven’t dragged some clearly resentful pals to at least one free clown show in the bowels of Banshee Labyrinth, it will have been a wasted month.
Roddy: Also, Ross’s show.

Poster for our next Q***r as Punk gig featuring local Edinburgh bands Vexations, Affectionate Widows, and Wassails. Friday 11 September at Leith Depot. Tickets available from link in Q***r as Punk bio.

Poster designed by Suky Goodfellow Graphic Design
So sick of seeing AI generated posters everywhere, so I’ve gone for rough hand drawn pen and pencil background with a piece of red paper stuck on (I found this lying around; I think my partner’s mum or sister must’ve cut out the circle at some point). I added the fonts and logo digitally in Adobe Illustrator, plus a thin black circle around the stag, which subtly made it feel more balanced. Fonts from Dafont.com (public domain license). Some of the fonts from the AI posters I’m seeing I recognise from Adobe Fonts, so I also felt like avoiding this resource for this poster, even though I’m lucky to have a licence through studying at college still. Anything can be a poster. This one was very loosely inspired by a tv show I watched recently. ***raspunk
